Louis van Gaal: I “have a very bad relationship” with Ryan Giggs — just kidding!
Dear British press,
Louis van Gaal is sick of you drumming up controversy between himself and his players or coaching staff that simply doesn’t exist.

The latest non-starter, if you ask the Manchester United manager, is that he and assistant manager Ryan Riggs, a playing legend at the club and assumed future first-team manager, don’t get along. When asked during a recent press conference about his relationship with Giggs, Van Gaal said the following:
“No. We have a very bad relationship. I cannot answer that. I want to have those rumors.”
“I am very irritated at this question because everyone can see we have a very good relationship. We work very hard together. Not only with Ryan but with all the staff and the players. It is a way of suggesting things. I am very irritated. I take my measures against the media. I am not pleased.”
Giggs’ former Man United teammate/columnist/television pundit Paul Scholes isn’t helping matters for Van Gaal and Giggs, only adding fuel to the fire with comments recently made on BT Sport. From the Independent:
“There’s no doubt, he had that little taste of it for the last three weeks of last year and he definitely wants to be a manager.“You can see that. Over the next two or three years, will he have the patience to be a number two for that long? I’m not sure he will.”
