The hits just keep on coming for Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil joins the list of injured Arsenal stars as the German midfielder will undergo a scan on his knee today.

Ozil is in Munich, where he flew to join his German teammates for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Poland and Ireland. Currently, Ozil’s status for both matches is uncertain.

The German international featured for Arsenal in their 2-0 loss to Chelsea over the weekend, but reported for international duty with a injury to his left knee.

Ozil also missed Germany’s previous Euro qualifier against Scotland in August after picking up an ankle injury playing for Arsenal.

If Ozil is unable to play, he will join a list of injured German players, including Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Marco Reus and Mario Gomez.

Not only would this add Ozil’s name to the list of injured German players, but also injured Arsenal players.

Arsenal’s young season has been hampered by injuries, with midfielders Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey all missing time. With Ozil out, that would means Arsenal’s entire starting midfield has missed time to injury so early into the season.

After Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, it is clear they still have some work to do to challenge for the Premier League title. If their squad continues to be riddled with injuries, there may be some unexpected stress for Gunners fans.
