Middlesbrough 1-2 Tottenham: Son’s brace keeps Spurs unbeaten

With Harry Kane out injured, Heung-Min Son stepped up big time in Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Middlesbrough.
Son struck twice in the second half to set Spurs on their way and despite Ben Gibson pulling one back for Boro, Mauricio Pochettino’s side held on for the win and they’re now unbeaten through six games.
Spurs now have 14 points while Boro remain on five.

Spurs took the lead early on as Boro’s defense backed off and Son scored with a cool finish. 1-0 to Tottenham as the South Korean made it three PL goals in as many games.

After 23 minutes it was 2-0 as Son scored his and Spurs’ second.
The South Korean -- who now has six goals and an assist in his last six PL games -- cut in from the byline and curled home brilliantly as Tottenham were in cruise control as they dominated proceedings at the Riverside.

In the second half Boro made a game of it as Stewart Downing’s sublime cross into a crowded area saw Gibson stoop low to head home with 25 minutes to go. 2-1. Game on.

Despite intense pressure from Boro, Spurs held on to the win as they continue their great start to the season.
