After making his debut for Norway at the ripe age of 15 in October, Martin Odegaard became the hottest commodity in European soccer. And probably the world.

Odegaard has been a regular for Norwegian side Stromsgodset and when he made his debut for Norway he became the youngest ever player to make an appearance in European Championship qualifiers.

The talented winger has already trained with Bayern Munich and Stuttgart, has met Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, has a visit planned for Liverpool next month and has already been shown around at Real Madrid. Needless to say, he’s a man kid in demand.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Odegaard admitted that Liverpool are his team and he has followed in the footsteps of his father as a Reds fan.

“Liverpool have always been my dream club,” Odegaard said. “But I will not let this affect my decision when I choose a new club. It’s all about finding the team that is best for me and for my development. That is not necessarily Liverpool. I haven’t really thought about my future yet. I will end the season here and then visit a number of clubs. I have not made a final decision yet, though. Of course, it’s flattering when you hear that big clubs are after you, but I don’t think about it too often.”

With the Norwegian season over, Odegaard will now focus on his final two games of 2014 with the Norwegian national team as they face Estonia and Azerbaijan.

Last season Odegaard played 23 times for Stromsgodset, scoring five times in the Norwegian top flight at the age of 15. With so many big clubs circling around him, the young man will certainly have his pick of Europe’s finest teams when he decides to move on from his homeland.

Do Liverpool hold the edge over others due to Odegaard’s fandom? Let’s wait and see. If Brendan Rodgers can arrange a shirt signed by Steven Gerrard and co. then it may just seal the deal for the teenage sensation to play alongside his heroes...
