Premier League Preview: Leicester City vs. Norwich City

QLX8UOng7k6I
Leicester needs to bounce back from their dramatic loss to Arsenal with a win over Norwich City who is trying to stay away from the relegation zone.

  • Norwich safe only on goal differential
  • Leicester two points clear at the top
  • Norwich have one point from their last 6 matches

Two teams at opposite ends of the table face off on Saturday, as league leaders Leicester City take on relegation-threatened Norwich City at the King Power Stadium (Watch live, 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).

The Canaries earned a draw in their last match against West Ham, snapping a five-game losing streak in the Premier League. Currently tied on points with Newcastle but safe from the drop only on goal differential, Norwich needs to start getting results before they fall into the relegation zone. Manager Alex Neil must make sure his side shores things up defensively, as the Canaries have conceded a league-high 50 goals on the year and take on the Premier League’s most potent offense in Leicester.

For Leicester City, a win over Norwich is crucial for the club to rebound from last matchday’s stoppage-time loss at Arsenal. The Foxes are still two points clear at the top of the table, but they must capitalize against a side in the relegation battle and keep their lead over the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal.

What they’re saying

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri on the fixture list: “We have a block until 19 March – five matches, three at home and two away. This could be the key of our season. If we get through these battles, we can do something in the Premier League. The target is always the maximum.”

Norwich manager Alex Neill: “Leicester are effective and good at what they do, but we need to impose ourselves on the game. We’re going there to get something. We need to win games - that’s the bottom line. We’re going to go out and attack and play with freedom and that’s our strength.”

Prediction

Ranieri gave his players an entire week off over the break, and I expect the Foxes to come out flying on Saturday. Norwich has had troubles defensively all season and will have their hands full with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Leicester City 3-1 Norwich City.
