The king could return to make one more appearance...

After calling it quits for the New York Red Bulls at the end of their 2014 Major League Soccer season, Thierry Henry has taken some time off to contemplate his next move in the game.

The 37-year-old French striker has been linked with a move into coaching, with his old boss Arsene Wenger talking up a potential role with Arsenal, but Henry still hasn’t officially retired as a player.

That fact has got people talking in France, as many want to see Henry honored by Les Bleus and for him to play in an upcoming friendly match in 2015.

France’s manager Didier Deschamps, who captained Henry when they won the World Cup in 1998, spoke to French outlet RTL radio on Thursday and said the following about handing Henry a farewell game.

“Everyone has their own ideas. Some people will consider it to be a good idea, others will consider it a bad idea,” Deschamps said “Thierry Henry deserves a tribute. I won’t say right now how it will happen. I’m going to take my time because it merits reflection. I’m going to discuss it with my (French Football Federation) president and we’ll let you know.”

Henry is the all-time leading goalscorer for France with 51 goals but hasn’t played for France since they exited the 2010 World Cup at the group stage. He has 123 caps for France, but will he get one more to say goodbye to his adoring fans?

France play Denmark in a friendly match on March, 29, 2015, and are rumored to be facing Brazil three days earlier at the Stade de France. That would mean a rematch of the ’98 World Cup final, in the same stadium where Henry and his French teammates enjoyed their finest moments on the international stage.

That would be some way to call it quits. Right?
