Tim Sherwood on West Brom’s shortlist; Hire set for end of week

Tim Sherwood backers, rejoice: The embattled former Tottenham Hotspur manager is reportedly drawing interest from at least one Premier League club.

West Bromwich Albion parted ways with Pepe Mel after the club held onto its top-flight status by the skin of its teeth, and has taken its time finding a new boss.

Sherwood is being considered for the Baggies job, having interviewed for it and being on a short list of six.

From the BBC:

An appointment is expected by the end of the week, with all candidates due to have been interviewed by Tuesday.

...

BBC Sport’s Pat Murphy said: “The job specification at The Hawthorns has not changed - the successful applicant will be head coach, not manager, working alongside Terry Burton and Richard Garlick in the sporting and technical department.

“Whoever gets the job will be able to bring in his own coaching staff.”

Have to wonder how Sherwood would react if there’s a separation between player recruiting and coaching. While at Tottenham, he was very vocal about how he was succeeding without his players. In any event, it seems Sherwood’s colorful personality isn’t far away from another spell of time in the PL eye.
