Early on Wednesday, U.S. time, the USA’s U-20 side reached the last eight of the World Cup in New Zealand by beating Colombia 1-0 in Wellington.
Tab Ramos’ side weathered a severe storm from Colombia to reach the quarterfinals as the Americans were outshot 24-8 but Rubio Rubin’s second half thunderbolt and a late penalty save from goalkeeper Zack Steffen handed the 10-men a smash and grab victory.
