While this shouldn’t impact Brunson’s availability to start next season, it does make his Finals MVP run even more impressive. Scoring 45 points in a closeout win while dealing with an injury in his shooting wrist is just another testament to Brunson’s resilience. He’ll still have plenty of time to get in shape prior to training camp.
  • After dishing out two assists in his summer debut on Saturday, Peterson was elite as a playmaker on Monday. Two turnovers offset his 12 assists, and the second overall pick in last month’s draft also shot over 50 percent from the field. Even with the Jazz having Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier on the roster, there will be times when they need Peterson to do more playmaking for others. His improved ability to balance searching for his shot with getting others involved was highly encouraging and a reminder of the fantasy value he may provide as a rookie.
  • SAS Head Coach
Donovan has 11 years of NBA head coaching experience between his stops with the Thunder and the Bulls. He won two college basketball championships with the University of Florida. Donovan left the Bulls in April and is putting a pause on his head coaching career. A decorate coach at 61-years-old, Donovan can certainly impart some wisdom on 44-year-old Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson.
  • TOR Forward #2
After seven seasons (playing six) in Los Angeles, Leonard is headed back to the franchise with whom he won an NBA title in 2019. The Clippers’ hesitation to give him a max extension of $126 million over two years opened the door for “The Klaw” to move, with the Raptors reportedly being willing to fork up that kind of money. Not only does Toronto add an immensely gifted offensive player who can score on all three levels, but Leonard is also one of the best wing defenders in the NBA. The issue has been his availability, with Kawhi appearing in at least 65 regular-season games just twice since leaving Toronto in 2019. When on the floor, he is an elite option for fantasy managers, regardless of league format.
  • Haliburton, who ruptured his Achilles tendon during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, did not play at all last season. In addition to recovering from that injury, he had to deal with a case of shingles in February. The good news for the Pacers is that their star point guard is back to full strength and should be good to go for the start of next season. “I feel like I’m operating like I’m a healthy NBA player for the first time in a long time, which is exciting,” Haliburton said on Saturday. “The fact that I’m able to come here without having to answer questions from anybody in our organization about my health, that I’m just able to jump in and do some things with the kids, that means the world to me. It’s something I don’t take for granted after the last 12 months.” While he may need some time to shake off the rust, a healthy Haliburton is one of the most valuable players in fantasy basketball.
  • CHI Forward
A late-season injury led to Wilson appearing in 24 games last season, but that did nothing to dissuade draft analysts from placing him among the top players in this draft class. Wilson averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks, shooting 57.8 percent from the field and 71.3 percent from the foul line. He doesn’t bring much to the table as a three-point shooter; that’s an area where Wilson will need to improve to unlock his full potential. With the Wilson selection, the Bulls have taken another step toward rebuilding their frontcourt. The rookie will join Matas Buzelis and Nic Claxton, with the latter arriving via trade. With Josh Giddey running the show, Wilson’s athleticism and ability to run the floor should pay dividends early on as the Bulls rebuild.
  • Due to health issues throughout the season, Peterson had some questions to answer during the pre-draft prospects. However, whatever concerns there may be, the former Kansas guard is still viewed as one of the best players in this class, regardless of position. In 24 appearances, Peterson averaged 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.6 three-pointers, shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 82.6 percent from the field. Where he needs to improve is setting up others, as Peterson finished the year with 38 assists and 38 turnovers. Even with Keyonte George coming off the best season of his NBA career and Isaiah Collier providing depth off the bench, Peterson’s scoring ability will get him plenty of opportunities to contribute immediately in Utah.
  • Windhorst, appearing on the Hoop Collective podcast, wondered aloud about what Edwards might be thinking in the aftermath of Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded to the Heat as well as the Timberwolves trading Julius Randle in a salary dump. Windhorst said Edwards has been frustrated with how he’s double teamed by opponents since Minnesota trade Karl Anthony-Towns two years ago. The Timberwolves have to add more offense this offseason to alleviate some of that burden on Edwards. While no trade is imminent, don’t expect Edwards to have a shortage of suitors if he eventually requests a trade.
  • NYK Guard #11
Winners of 10 consecutive games, the Knicks are now one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999. Brunson, who was limited to more of a setup role in Game 2, led the way in Game 3 with a game-high 30 points. He didn’t make a three-pointer, but that didn’t matter much, with the Knicks’ point guard attempting 12 free throws and making 10. No matter who the Cavaliers have assigned to defend Brunson, he’s managed to impact the action in all three games in some way. He’ll look to do the same in Game 4 on Monday, with the Knicks going for a second consecutive sweep.
  • SAS Forward-Center #1
In his first conference finals appearance, Wemby made a massive impact early and often. He entered halftime with a double-double and was incredibly active on the offensive glass. He set a new career high for offensive boards for both the regular season and playoffs. Of course, he made a monster impact on both ends of the floor, which included multiple big plays down the stretch to help the Spurs take the first game of this series and homecourt advantage. This was an otherworldly performance, but against a team as talented as OKC, he’ll need to keep it up throughout the series.
