Al Horford O/U 13.5 Points vs. Nets
Al Horford‘s role is diminishing with Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams back.
The Celtics attempt to spread the ball around has resulted in a lack of minutes and shot attempts.
Over the last four games, Horford has attempted nine or less field goal attempts in each outing. In that span, Horford averages 13.0 points per game and shot 50% from the field and 40% from three.
He is maximizing most of his opportunities with Williams and Enes Kanter splitting minutes. Role players such as Grant Williams seeing 20-plus minutes nightly and playing the four have also decreased Horford’s chances.
There are a lot mouths to feed within the top-eight man rotation with Jayson Tatum, Brown, Marcus Smart, Dennis Schroder, Payton Pritchard, plus Horford and both Williams.
NBC’s player prop model projects Horford to record 11.0 points, hitting the Under. On the season, Horford has cashed the Under nine out of 15 times (60%).
PointsBet has the Under 13.5 points juiced to -167, while it’s at -110 and -120 on other books. We can expect this line to move to 11.5 or 12.5.
When he plays 30 minutes or fewer like he has the past two games, Horford is 7-3 to the Under 13.5 points (70%), including four straight and a 5-1 Under mark at home (83.3%).
That is worth a bet as this game will likely be a lot about star power. Kevin Durant, James Harden versus Tatum and Brown and a few role players like Patty Mills, LaMarcus Aldridge, Smart and Schroder playing key roles.
Brooklyn also allows the 10th-fewest points per game on the season (105.0) and only 42.0 points per game in the paint over the past three (T-11th).
The Nets rank 10th with 1.87 made three-pointers surrender to power forwards per game and a 0.85 to centers.
I do not see Horford having much success tonight unless he attempts 10-plus field goal attempts, something that is hard to come by in this Boston offense.
