It’s the end of an era in New England with Tom Brady departing after 20 years, 14 Pro Bowls and six Super Bowl victories. Multiple sources have reported that Brady is expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in the wake of that breaking news the NFL futures odds have adjusted.
The odds for Tom Brady to wind up on another team changed wildly over the last few weeks. As of February 28, the Patriots were at -400 to resign the GOAT while Tampa Bay was listed at just +4,000. And as recently as two days ago you could still get Brady to the Bucs at +450. But after New England coach Bill Belichick reportedly low-balled Brady with a contract offer that was less than what the future Hall-of-Famer earned in 2019, the writing looked to be on the wall.

After no serious negotiations between the two sides over the past several weeks the Bucs reached out to Brady’s camp with an agressive offer as soon as NFL free agency began on Monday. Tampa Bay soon moved close to even odds for Brady’s services. After Brady said a heartfelt goodbye to the Patriots organization on twitter, the Bucs jumped up to massive favorites in the range of -300 before books took the prop off the board.
The Patriots will be left in the lurch and looking for a starting QB to fill the void, but you have to figure that a Jedi master like Belichick has already prepared for this scenario. Sportsbooks still have the Pats as favorites to win the AFC East for the 12th year in a row, although the Buffalo Bills aren’t far behind them at +150.

The Buccaneers will give Brady a pair of dynamic down-the-field targets in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, provided their offensive line can keep him intact. On the defensive side of the ball, Tampa Bay has shown improvement and looks strong on paper with Vita Vaea, Devin White, Shaquil Barrett, Lavonte David and the recently resigned Jason-Pierre Paul in their front seven.
The Bucs have seen their odds to win the Super Bowl jump all the way up to +1,600 with Brady at the helm.
