Duke DL coach Rick Petri steps down to pursue other opportunities

After nearly 40 years in the business, Duke defensive line coach Rick Petri is stepping down to pursue other opportunities, the program announced on Friday.
“We certainly appreciate Rick’s efforts in helping build our program,” said head coach David Cutcliffe. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Petri helped Duke through the golden age of modern Blue Devils football, helping Duke win 28 games in his four seasons on campus. He previously worked for Cutcliffe at Ole Miss from 1999-2004, and also coached at Pittsburg State, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Miami, South Carolina and Kentucky.

Duke finished 78th in yards per carry allowed, 103rd in tackles for loss and 44th in sacks this season.
