All charges related to an alleged assault have been dropped for one Temple football player, and all but one for another.
In a municipal court on Wednesday, all charges against Temple defensive end and linebacker Haason Reddick when a judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to send Reddick through a trial. Reddick had been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and conspiracy. Offensive lineman Dion Dawkins was charged with the same offenses back in March and had all but simple assault dropped by the same judge.
Both players surrendered to police in March following an incident at a party earlier in the year. An alleged victim claimed he was attacked by Reddick and Dawkins in January, but an attorney representing Redddick argued there was no evidence any of the injuries suffered by the alleged victim were caused by his client. The alleged victim testified he saw Dawkins charging at him leading up to a brief fight before being separated.
Both Reddick and Dawkins were suspended by Temple following the initial charges in March. There is no confirmed update on either player’s status with the Temple program at this point. The Owls just wrapped up spring practices last weekend.
