Thanks to a healthy number of developments that transpired in Week 13, a whole gaggle -- or slew, if you will -- of players have been brought into the betting side of the Heisman discussion.
In the latest set of Heisman odds released by Bovada.lv, a whopping four players have been added to the website’s stiff-armed board, three of whom haven’t been listed all season. Additionally, one player who had put himself squarely into the mix has been removed while another has dropped considerably.
Braxton Miller, who entered the 2013 season as Bovada‘s Heisman favorite, has returned at 15/1. The Ohio State quarterback had been off the board since an injury cost him a pair of games in the middle of September. Joining Miller at 15/1 is record-setting Boston College running back Andre Williams, who is comfortably leading the nation in rushing and had previously been off Bovada’s Heisman radar.
Williams is the only non-quarterback listed.
The two other new entrants are (shock!) a pair of quarterbacks: Fresno State’s Derek Carr (20/1) and Northern Illinois’ Jordan Lynch (28/1).
Florida State’s Jameis Winston, as expected, continues to be Bovada‘s favorite at 1/2 this week, although he’s down from 4/11 in large part because of the off-field controversy that continues to swirl around him. Alabama’s AJ McCarron‘s odds have skyrocketed thanks to others around him stumbling, going from 13/2 a week ago to 2/1.
Johnny Manziel, who appeared poised to claim his second Heisman thanks to Winston’s issue, was one of those whose candidacies took a significant hit, going from 5/2 to 20/1 following what was arguably the worst performance of his career as A&M’s quarterback.
Coming off the blowout loss to Oklahoma State, Baylor’s Bryce Petty, 10/1 a week ago, has been completed removed from Bovada‘s board.
