Wilson was pulled from Wednesday’s game after injuring his shoulder while attempting to avoid a tag in the fifth inning. The A’s still don’t believe that it’s serious enough to warrant a return trip to the injured list, but if this lingers through the weekend, they may be forced to reconsider that stance.

The Athletics attempted to give Wilson some time off to avoid a trip to the injured list, but they were left with little choice heading into Monday’s series opener against the Dodgers after he missed their previous four contests with a shoulder issue. It’s a bit strange to see him hit the shelf with a different injury altogether. No word yet concerning how much time the 24-year-old shortstop will miss. He’s been snake-bitten by injuries this season, which have limited him to just 50 games.

It’s the fourth consecutive game that Wilson has missed due to a left shoulder injury, though he is improving and is once again expected to be available off the bench on Sunday. Ailka Williams will once again start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Angels’ left-hander Sam Aldegheri.

Wilson’s two-run homer in the seventh got the A’s to within four runs at 11-7. The Athletics would score the next five in the comeback win. The 24-year-old has picked up hits in his last six games after missing a month with a shoulder injury, and he’s now slashing .287/.315/.404 with four homers and 26 RBI. The flaws are pretty obvious, but Wilson certainly has his selling points, too.

Wilson walked and scored a run in the sixth inning and finished hitless in three at-bats during his return to the lineup following a nearly five-week absence recovering from a shoulder injury. The 24-year-old shortstop figures to bat towards the bottom of the order, but it wouldn’t be a complete shock to see him get a chance in the leadoff spot ahead of Nick Kurtz.

The 24-year-old infielder had been sidelined since May 11 due to a left shoulder subluxation. He returns at just the right time too as the A’s lose Brent Rooker (knee) to the injured list on Friday. Prior to landing on the shelf, Wilson had been hitting .292/.311/.398 with three homers, 19 RBI and a pair of steals in his first 39 games.

Wilson has gone 2-for-12 at the plate in four contests since kicking off a rehab assignment last weekend. The 24-year-old shortstop is working his way back from a shoulder injury and figures to be ready to return later this week.

In a game in which the Aviators scored 21 runs on 19 hits, Wilson missed out on most of the fun. He did draw a walk with the bases loaded in the first inning, but that was it for him. It’s unclear how many games the A’s want him to play in before he’s cleared to return. Wilson has been sidelined since May 11 due to a left shoulder subluxation.

Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts told reporters on Thursday that right-hander Edwin Díaz (elbow) threw 28 pitches during a successful bullpen session.

Roberts also noted that the Dodgers’ closer looked “really good” during the session. He remains on track to rejoin the club’s bullpen after the All-Star break, which would shift Tanner Scott back into a setup role.
