Jackson Jobe (elbow) starts rehab assignment

Jobe gave up one hit, walked one and struck out four. You couldn’t have asked for a better outing in his first start since May of last year after recovering from Tommy John surgery. Jobe had never touched 100 mph before in the major leagues, but reached that mark on his first inning strikeout of Bryce Eldridge. In the second inning, he struck out Rafael Devers on three pitches, the last of which being a wipeout changeup. Jobe threw 71 pitches and will continue to be on a pitch count for at least his next few starts. That might hinder his ability to work deep into games right now, but Jobe certainly showed enough to be worth grabbing in mixed leagues. He’s lined up to face the White Sox next weekend.

While he won’t make his highly anticipated 2026 debut until Saturday, Jobe rejoins the Tigers’ active roster on Friday evening. If the Tigers are going to make a serious push for a playoff berth in the American League, Jobe is going to have to play a major role in making up for the departures of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize. Brenan Hanifee was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.
