Ryan Yarbrough will be the opener for the second game of a doubleheader against the Dodgers on Sunday.

Yarbrough will get the lefties at the top of the lineup for the Dodgers, and while he has a starting background, it seems unlikely he’ll go more than an inning or two. Obviously, that doesn’t give him much of a chance for fantasy success, even before you consider those lefties he’ll be facing are pretty good.

Victor Mesa Jr. went 1-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run against the Red Sox on Sunday.

Mesa’s home run was his seventh of the season. He hit an inside-the-park home run off Sonny Gray in the second inning. Mesa hit a line drive to centerfield that got by Ceddanne Rafaela. He rounded third base and the throw to home plate actually beat him there, but the catcher couldn’t come up with ball and Mesa was credited with an inside-the-park home run. He’s hitting .216 with a .760 OPS and 14 RBI.

Willson Contreras went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Rays on Sunday.

Contreras’ home run was his 22nd of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Shane McClanahan in the fifth inning. Contreras has six home runs in his last 14 games. He’s hitting .283 with a .931 OPS and 64 RBI.

William Contreras hit a walk-off three-run homer to give the Brewers a 3-1 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

With the Brew Crew trailing 1-0, Contreras changed that in a hurry with a three-run homer off Pete Fairbanks to give Milwaukee the victory in the series finale. It’s just the 10th homer of the season for the 28-year-old — who otherwise has put together a solid season — and he’s now driven in 57 runs in 98 games. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Contreras starts seeing more balls going over the fence over the summer months, but in the meantime, at least he contributes in the average category as seen in his .280 mark.

Esteury Ruiz hit a solo homer in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.

It looked like Ruiz was going to be responsible for the only run of the game for both teams, but a three-run homer by William Contreras changed that. The 27-year-old has shown some surprising pop as that’s the fourth homer in 59 games, and he’s slugging .495. He’s also stolen 20 bags — that part is far less surprising — and hey, maybe he’s developing into an offensive threat at age 27. Weirder things have happened.

Shane McClanahan allowed six runs (four earned) in five innings and took the loss against the Red Sox on Sunday.

McClanahan gave up five hits, walked three and struck out three. He fell to 8-6 with the loss. Two of the six runs McClanahan allowed were unearned due to a Junior Caminero throwing error in the third inning. He completed at least six innings and allowed two runs or less in his last three starts. McClanahan has a 3.07 ERA and a 3.99 xFIP. He’s lined up to face the Guardians at home next weekend.

Eury Pérez blanked the Brewers on Sunday over six innings, but he didn’t factor into the decision.

Pérez was on his way to getting the win, but Pete Fairbanks got in the way and allowed a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. It was still an excellent effort for the 23-year-old that saw him whiff nine batters and allow just one hit; two starts after he threw seven perfect innings against the A’s. This scoreless affair lowers Pérez’s ERA to 3.53, and there’s a very good chance that figure will be lowered when he squares off against the Padres next weekend.

Pete Fairbanks blew a save and took a loss after allowing a three-run homer in the ninth inning Sunday against the Brewers.

Fairbanks was able to get one out, and he’s now blown three saves. He gave up a pair of hits and also a walk, and then with two of those runners on, Fairbanks left a pitch in a bad spot to William Contreras, and Contreras punished it. On top of those three blown saves, Fairbanks now has an ugly 7.42 ERA on the season. He doesn’t seem to be in danger of losing his closing gig, but fantasy managers need to look for a replacement if they’re still rostering him, this has been pretty ugly.

Kyle Hurt will be the 27th player for the second game of a doubleheader against the Yankees on Sunday.

Hurt will provide some extra relief help for a bullpen game against the Yankees in the second of a twin billing. Hurt will then either head back to Triple-A, or the Dodgers can recall him and send down another arm if they choose that route.
