Jett Williams re-injures wrist at Triple-A

Turang was able to finish the game against the Padres, but it looks like this could be an issue going forward. If so, the Brewers will need to place either he or Joey Ortiz, who is out with a neck issue, on the IL before Wednesday’s game. The Brewers don’t have any additional middle infielders on the 40-man, but they could call on someone like Freddy Zamora as a stopgap. Of course, top prospect Jesús Made is also an option. Signing Jorge Mateo wouldn’t be exciting, but can’t be ruled out.

With the deal, he was added to the 40-man roster and immediately optioned to Triple-A Nashville. Pratt’s contract is worth a reported $51 million. He might get a chance to take over at shortstop this summer if Joey Ortiz struggles offensively. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how this works out in the long run with two superior shortstop prospects behind him in 18-year-old Jesús Made and 19-year-old Luis Peña. It would seem to ensure that is current Triple-A teammate, Jett Williams, is going to wind up at third or in center field.

Williams has gone 3-for-11 to start the season with three strikeouts and three walks and has also stolen three bases without being caught. The Brewers are using David Hamilton and Luis Rengifo at third base right, which seems to be a signal that they’re holding the spot until Williams is ready. His speed is going to be a major asset when he finally takes over the job.

Sproat could be a candidate to go right into Milwaukee’s rotation, though it seems more likely that he’ll open up in Triple-A. Williams is probably a year away, but he could be a starting shortstop or center fielder for the Brewers in 2027. The Mets will have Peralta for $8 million this year before he becomes eligible for free agency next winter.
