The Padres selected 3B Matt Antonelli with the 17th overall pick in the 2006 draft.
Considered one of the “sure things” in the draft, Antonelli doesn’t have a big upside but should be a solid big leaguer relatively soon. His strength is defense at third base, but he may lack the power to be a star.

Carlos Correa was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers with a left ankle injury.
Correa suffered a left ankle injury during batting practice, marking the second consecutive contest that the Astros have lost a starter to injury during warmups. He’ll undergo evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status following the contest.
Target Red Sox’ Anthony for trade amid injury
Provided he doesn't get bad news about his hand, Roman Anthony could be a good buy-low candidate in fantasy baseball.
  • SF 2nd Baseman #1
Luis Arraez is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Padres due to arm soreness.
Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters Arraez is dealing with some soreness following a swing during Monday’s series opener so he’s getting some extra time off to rest. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern at the moment.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #34
Braves sent RHP Joel Payamps outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Payamps passed through waivers unclaimed over the weekend and will remain with Atlanta as organizational relief depth. The 32-year-old struggled to an inflated 8.22 ERA across 7 2/3 innings for Atlanta this season.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #67
Angels re-signed LHP Joey Luccesi to a minor league contract.
Lucchesi returns to Los Angeles on a new minor league pact after making five relief appearances earlier this season. The 32-year-old southpaw is merely emergency organizational depth at this stage of his career.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. is batting fifth on Tuesday against the Giants.
It’s the lowest Tatis has hit since his rookie campaign back in 2019. The 27-year-old has shown some signs of life recently, but he’s off to an abysmal start, hitting .252/.324/.301 with five extra-base hits, including zero home runs, 13 RBI and nine steals in 33 games. The complete lack of extra-base power is completely perplexing since a quick glance under the hood at his underlying batted ball metrics suggests he’s still making plenty of hard contact.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #63
Giants activated RHP Joel Peguero from the 15-day injured list.
Peguero returns to San Francisco’s relief corps after missing nearly six weeks at the outset of the season recovering from a left hamstring strain. The 29-year-old reliever compiled a solid 2.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 17/8 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings in his big-league debut last year.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #72
Giants optioned RHP Trevor McDonald to Triple-A Sacramento.
McDonald heads back to the minors after recording eight strikeouts and allowing one run over seven innings against the Padres on Tuesday in his season debut. The 25-year-old figures to get another look with the Giants at some point later this summer. His numbers don’t stand out at the Triple-A level, but he’s performed extremely well in a couple chances in the big leagues since 2024.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #16
Angels manager Kurt Suzuki told reporters Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) will be shut down for 3-4 weeks.
Suzuki added that Kikuchi has opted for the rest and rehabilitation route instead of undergoing shoulder surgery, which likely would’ve been season-ending. The 34-year-old southpaw, who hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation over the weekend, will need to build up his stamina and workload from the ground floor once he’s cleared to resume throwing in a couple weeks. It’s relatively safe to assume he won’t return until sometime around the All-Star break in July. It’ll be Sam Aldegheri getting the first opportunity to replace Kikuchi in Los Angeles’ rotation when he takes the ball against the White Sox on Tuesday night.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #5
Brandon Lowe is on the bench for Tuesday’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.
It’s a routine off day for Lowe with southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez toeing the rubber for Arizona in this one. Nick Gonzales takes over at second base with Jared Triolo getting into the lineup at the hot corner. The other notable trickle-down effect here is top prospect Konnor Griffin bumping up to the sixth spot in the order, the highest he’s batted since arriving in the majors last month.
  • ATL Center Fielder #23
Michael Harris II (quad) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Mariners.
Harris is patrolling left field and hitting cleanup after missing four of Atlanta’s previous five games due to a lingering quad issue that’s been bothering him for a couple weeks. There was some concern that he would require a trip to the injured list to finally put the issue to bed, so the fact that he’s back in the lineup seems to signal that he’ll avoid hitting the shelf.
