Yankees recalled 1B Juan Miranda from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
As expected. Miranda, 27, was batting .260/.371/.438 with five home runs and 15 RBI over his first 96 at-bats at the Triple-A level this season. He’s not really a prospect at this point, but he’ll provide the Yankees with an another left-handed bat off the bench.

Padres’ skipper Craig Stammen told reporters on Friday that Jason Adam (quad) has yet to be ruled out for Opening Day.
The 34-year-old right-hander is working his way back from surgery on his quad and has been making substantial progress. He’s slated to pitch in Cactus League games on Friday and Monday, and if all goes well there, it sounds like he’ll be able to be included in the team’s Opening Day bullpen.
Who broke Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue?
The I-Team is on the case to trace the culprit after Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue was found in pieces at the Mancave.

Padres’ manager Craig Stammen conceded Friday that Yuki Matsui (groin) will begin the season on the injured list.
The 30-year-old hurler is making progress in his recovery and is set to face live hitters in the next few days, but he’s going to need a bit longer to get ramped up for the regular season. He should be ready to join the Padres’ bullpen at some point in April.
  • AZ Relief Pitcher #24
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Kade Strowd to Triple-A Reno.
The 28-year-old hurler had been expected to crack the Diamondbacks’ Opening Day bullpen but he struggled to a 10.57 ERA and 2.09 WHIP over 7 2/3 innings during Cactus League competition which may have caused the Diamondbacks to reassess. He’ll attempt to get back on track at the Triple-A level to start the season.
  • TEX Catcher #11
Rangers reassigned C Jose Herrera and RHP Peyton Gray to minor league camp.
Teams around the league are trying to trim down their rosters as Opening Day looms for next week, so expect nearly every team to make multiple transactions each day over the weekend. Neither Herrera nor Gray was expected to crack the Opening Day roster, so these moves don’t really move the needle for fantasy purposes.
  • CWS Center Fielder #24
Jarred Kelenic was informed by the White Sox on Friday that he will not make the Opening Day roster.
Catcher Drew Romo received the same news. For the time being, both players will remain in big league camp, though it’s possible they could eventually be cut loose if they would like to explore other opportunities. Kelenic, 26, has struggled at the dish this spring, hitting .179 (7-for-39) with a pair of homers, five RBI and two stolen bases.
  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Yankees optioned OF Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A, RHP Kervin Castro and RHP Yerry de los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; Reassigned C Ali Sánchez, C Payton Henry and OF Kenedy Corona to minor league camp.
The Yankees had said all along that regardless of how he performed during the spring, it was likely that the Martian would be starting the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and that’s where he’ll head despite slashing .325/.378/.600 with three homers, 10 RBI and three stolen bases in 45 plate appearances during Grapefruit League play. He has all of the skills to be an impact fantasy contributor, but it’ll take an injury for him to get enough playing time with the Bombers to bring that to fruition.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #33
Guardians’ manager Stephen Vogt conceded Friday that Hunter Gaddis (forearm) and George Valera (calf) are expected to begin the season on the injured list.
Gaddis is dealing with tightness in his forearm and while he has shown improvement, it’s going to take him longer than a couple of weeks to build back up before he’s able to help out the Guardians’ bullpen. Valera has been battling a mild left calf strain and isn’t expected to be shelved for long, but being ready for Opening Day looks unlikely at this stage.
  • CLE Right Fielder #22
Guardians sent OF Nolan Jones outright to Triple-A Syracuse.
Jones was out of minor league options and has the right to refuse the outright assignment and hit the open market if he chooses to do so. The 27-year-old former top prospect hit a putrid .152 (5-for-33) with one homer, six RBI, one stolen base and a 14/3 K/BB ratio during Cactus League play.
  • CLE Center Fielder #0
Guardians optioned OF Petey Halpin to Triple-A Columbus.
The 23-year-old outfielder entered camp as a longshot to make the Opening Day roster, so him getting trimmed on Friday didn’t come as a shock. He’ll start the year in a regular role at Triple-A Columbus and should get an opportunity with the Guardians once injury or ineffectiveness eventually strike.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #76
Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson confirmed on Friday that Andrew Painter has made the team’s Opening Day rotation.
That had been a foregone conclusion for a while now, but is now official. The bigger question will be whether he or Taijuan Walker gets bumped once Zack Wheeler (shoulder) is ready to return. Cristopher Sanchez will work on Opening Day for the Phillies and will be followed by Aaron Nola. Jesus Luzardo, Walker and Painter in that order.
