Mariners’ manager Eric Wedge said Wednesday that prospect Vincent Catricala will get a look at third base during spring training.

Catricala, 23, batted .349/.421/.601 with 25 homers, 106 RBI and a 1.021 OPS between High-A High Desert and Double-A Jackson last season. There are serious doubts about his defensive ability at third base, so he may end up as a left fielder in the long-term.

Jose Quintana (hamstring) threw a 21-pitch bullpen session without issue on Sunday and could rejoin the Rockies’ rotation as early as Wednesday.

It sounds like Quintana will be able to slot into the Rockies’ rotation at some point during the upcoming week, most likely on Wednesday against the Astros in Houston. That would shift Chase Dollander from his bulk role back to a long relief role in the Rockies’ bullpen.

Realmuto again fouled a ball off of his already sore foot during Saturday’s contest, which is why he was held out of action on Sunday. He’s once again considered day-to-day, though fantasy managers should expect this foot problem to be an ongoing issue for a while.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is making is second consecutive start at second on base on Sunday against the Rockies.

The 27-year-old superstar proved to be capable at the position on Saturday and it appears as though it could become a regular thing going forward — which would be a boon to his already high fantasy value. Jake Cronenworth and Gavin Sheets are both sitting against Rockies’ left-hander Kyle Freeland on Sunday.

Jeremy Peña

HOU Shortstop #3

Jeremy Peña (knee) was held out of the Astros’ starting lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Mariners.

No word yet on the results of the tests that the 28-year-old shortstop underwent after being lifted from Saturday’s game with right posterior knee tightness. He has yet to be placed on the injured list yet though, which could mean that he’s facing a day-to-day type of situation. Stay tuned as the Astros should have an update on his status shortly.

CWS 2nd Baseman

Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago reports that while the White Sox have discussed promoting Sam Antonacci from Triple-A Charlotte, no plans are currently in motion.

There was a report from Noah Phalen of Sox Showdown on Sunday morning that Antonacci would be recalled along with top pitching prospect Noah Schultz on Tuesday, but it appears that’s not a guarantee just yet. Either way, the versatile 23-year-old is off to an outstanding start at the Triple-A level and should get a shot with the White Sox before long, even if it’s not during the upcoming week.

SEA 2nd Baseman #33

Brendan Donovan (illness) returned to the Mariners’ starting lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Astros.

Donovan missed each of the team’s previous two games while battling an illness. He’ll start at third base and bat leadoff against Cody Bolton and the Astros on Sunday afternoon in Seattle.

Orioles recalled OF Johnathan Rodriguez from Triple-A Norfolk.

He’ll add some depth in the outfield for the Orioles as Tyler O’Neill lands on the 7-day concussion injured list. The 26-year-old was hitting .333/.485/.375 with zero homers, two RBI and an 8/8 K/BB ratio in his first eight games at Triple-A Norfolk.

Orioles placed OF Tyler O’Neill on the 7-day concussion injured list, retroactive to April 9.

It turns out it’s not just an illness that O’Neill has been battling, it has actually been a concussion. Johnathan Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to take his place on the active roster. O’Neill will have to clear the concussion protocol before he’s eligible to return to action.

Andrew Painter was scratched from Sunday’s scheduled start against the Diamondbacks due to a migraine headache.

Zach Pop will start in his place in what will end up being a bullpen game for the Phillies. Expect Painter to slot back into the Phillies’ rotation at some point next week.
