Sean West yielded three runs on four hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Mets.
2011 was a lost year for West, as he missed time with elbow problems and posted a 5.59 ERA and a 56/46 K/BB ratio in his 17 starts for New Orleans. He’s now out of options, so the Marlins will try to find room for him if he has a good spring. A few more outings like today’s and he probably won’t have much trouble clearing waivers.

Astros’ general manager Dana Brown told reporters on Sunday that right-hander Hunter Brown (shoulder) is on track for a mid-June return to the Astros’ rotation.
Brown is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session on Tuesday and if all goes well, he’ll be cleared to make a minor league rehab start next weekend. He’s going to require at least a couple of tune-ups there before he’s ready to return. Brown has been shelved since the start of April due to a right shoulder strain.
Walls' bases-clearing triple gives Rays the lead
Taylor Walls came up in a big way for the Rays with the bases loaded, where the shortstop's long triple cleared the bases to reclaim the lead over the Marlins.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #37
Padres optioned RHP Alek Jacob to Triple-A El Paso.
The Padres needed to clear a spot on their active roster for the debut of Lucas Giolito on Sunday and unfortunately for Jacob he was the odd man out this time. The 27-year-old gave up two runs without recording an out during Saturday’s appearance against the Mariners. He’ll bide his time at the Triple-A level until his services are needed once more.

Padres recalled RHP Lucas Giolito from Double-A San Antonio.
The 31-year-old righty will make his Padres’ debut on Sunday against the Mariners. Over four minor league rehab starts, Giolito posted a 4.76 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 15/6 K/BB ratio across 17 innings of work. He could wind up carving out some fantasy value in deeper mixed leagues. Alek Jacob was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #63
Rockies recalled RHP Blas Castaño from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 27-year-old right-hander was claimed off of waivers from the Mariners in mid-April. Castaño has been terrific at the Triple-A level this season, posting a 1.10 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 12/7 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings. He’ll work in a middle relief role for the Rockies.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #36
Rockies optioned RHP Zach Agnos to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Agnos has had a rough time in 13 appearances for the Rockies this season, registering a 5.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 20/10 K/BB ratio over 29 innings of work. Blas Castano was recalled from Triple-A to take his spot in the Rockies’ bullpen.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #47
Angels optioned RHP Alek Manoah to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 28-year-old hurler actually pitched well in his first two outings for the Halos, firing six scoreless innings with a 1.17 WHIP and a 3/5 K/BB ratio. He should get another opportunity with the big league club in the near future.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #21
Angels activated RHP Grayson Rodriguez from the 15-day injured iist.
Rodriguez will make his Angels’ debut on Sunday against the Dodgers. The former top prospect looked electric on his recent minor league rehab assignment and should immediately have fantasy relevance in all mixed leagues.
  • AZ 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte is not in the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Rockies in Colorado.
There doesn’t appear to be any sort of illness or injury at play here, it’s just a routine day off for the hard-hitting second baseman. Ildemaro Vargas will slide over and cover second base while Jose Fernandez starts at first base and will bat eighth for the Diamondbacks against Michael Lorenzen and the Rockies.
  • MIL Designated Hitter #22
Christian Yelich (back) returned to the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Twins.
Yelich had missed the team’s previous four games due to tightness in his back. He’ll serve as the team’s designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot against Twins’ right-hander Bailey Ober on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis.
  • CWS Catcher #8
Kyle Teel tweaked his right knee during a minor league rehab game at Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
The injury isn’t believed to be anything serious, but he’ll sit on Sunday before being re-evaluated on Tuesday. Teel had been tracking toward a return to the White Sox in mid-May, but it’s possible this will set him back a bit.
