Orioles optioned RHP Alex Burnett to Triple-A Norfolk.
Burnett lasted just three days on the Orioles’ roster. He’ll return to a 1.50 ERA in the minors.

Brayan Rocchio went 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored in Sunday’s win over the Reds.
Rocchio’s solo shot was a fourth-inning blast off Brady Singer, his fourth of the season. The switch-hitting infielder has slightly increased his bat speed this year while cutting his strikeout rate in half, down from 20% in 2025 to 10% so far this season. He’s now batting .285 with a .763 OPS and swiping more bags thanks to the extra times he’s been on base. He’s already up to eight, nearing his career-high of 10. Rocchio began the year as Cleveland’s primary second baseman but took over the full-time shortstop role once Gabriel Arias went on the IL.
Rays show off scrappy identity in 30th win of year
Matt Vasgersian, Brian Anderson and Jeff Nelson react to the Rays' 6-3 win over the Marlins, where plenty of movement on the basepaths and gutty pitching performances defined Sunday's clash between in-state rivals.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in the Reds’ 10-3 loss to the Guardians on Sunday.
De La Cruz swatted an opposite-field blast off Gavin Williams in the third inning before Cleveland eventually blew the game open with six homers. The star shortstop is now hitting .302/.364/.540 this season, all career-high marks. The only downside is he entered Sunday with a 3% stolen base attempt rate, per Baseball Savant. That’s well below the 8.7% mark he posted in 2024 en route to 67 thefts. Through mid-May he’s 9-for-13 in attempts. The bags are still part of his fantasy profile, and there’s 30/30 upside or better if he becomes more aggressive on the bases.
  • PIT 3rd Baseman #38
Nick Yorke is being sent down by the Pirates, with a corresponding move coming Tuesday.
Yorke was 0-for-8 in nine days since returning to the majors on May 8. The Pirates could replace him with fellow utilityman Tyler Callahan or maybe Rafael Flores Jr. as another catcher option.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Jose Altuve is expected to go on the injured list with a Grade 2 left oblique strain.
That figures to cost him at least a month. Brice Matthews started at second base today and could be the primary guy there while Altuve is out, though Braden Shewmake could also be in the mix once shortstop Jeremy Peña is activated.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill has been dropped to sixth in the Padres lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Mariners.
Fernando Tatis Jr. moves from second to first, and Miguel Andujar, who hit sixth last night, is in the second spot. Merrill has gone hitless in four straight games to fall to .205/.275/.325 for the season. He had led off in each of his last 10 starts, and this is the first time all season that he’s hit lower than fourth.
  • SEA Shortstop #85
According to multiple reports, the Mariners are calling up Colt Emerson from Triple-A Tacoma.
He isn’t currently in Sunday night’s lineup, and neither is Brendan Donovan. The 20-year-old Emerson was hitting .255/.347/.469 with seven homers and 10 steals in 38 games for Tacoma. 33 of his 38 starts had come at shortstop, with the rest at third base, so it will be interesting to see if the Mariners give him a chance to displace J.P. Crawford. For now, with Donovan limited, the easy move would be to play him at third most of the time. However, Emerson seems like a clear upgrade defensively at shortstop. Offensively, he might not be quite ready. He was striking out 27 percent of the time in Triple-A, and his exit velocity numbers were pretty average. He’s very likely to turn into a fine regular in time, but those in shallow leagues can probably ignore him for now.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #26
Taj Bradley, on the injured list with pectoral inflammation, was lifted after allowing one run in 1 2/3 innings in his rehab start Sunday for Triple-A St. Paul.
After an easy first, Bradley threw 30 pitches in the second and it was decided not to extend him further. This figured to be Bradley’s only rehab start, as he’s eligible to come off the injured list next weekend. However, perhaps the Twins will now ask him to pitch once more in the minors.
  • BOS Catcher #75
Carlos Narváez left Sunday’s game with pain in his right middle finger, according to the Red Sox.
Connor Wong replaced him. The Red Sox also have Mickey Gasper as a catcher option, so they wouldn’t need to make a move for another catcher if Narváez needs a couple of days off. Anything more than, though, and he’ll probably land on the IL. Matt Thaiss or Jason Delay could get the call in that case.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #56
Katie Woo of The Athletic reports that the Dodgers are close to acquiring left-hander Eric Lauer from the Blue Jays.
Lauer was designated for assignment by the Jays earlier in the week. The details of the swap are still being worked out, but it sounds like it’s a done deal that the 30-year-old southpaw will be joining the Dodgers. Stay tuned.
  • SEA Catcher #18
Mitch Garver (back) returns to Mariners’ lineup on Sunday.
Garver was scratched from the M’s lineup on Saturday due to tightness in his back, but it appears to have been only a minor issue. Expect him to see the bulk of the action behind the dish while Cal Raleigh (oblique) is shelved.
