Angels sent RHP Yoslan Herrera outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
He’s now off the 40-man roster, clearing a spot for C.J. Cron. Herrera posted a 4.50 ERA and 2.33 WHIP over six relief innings earlier this season for the Halos.

Braves’ manager Walt Weiss told reporters after Thursday’s loss that the plan is for Michael Harris II (quad) to serve as the team’s designated hitter for the remainder of the road trip.
Weiss wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of a trip to the injured list though if the 25-year-old outfielder doesn’t show any improvement. It sounds like Eli White may continue to patrol center field at least through the weekend.
Robert Jr. placed on 10-day IL with back issues
James Schiano discusses Luis Robert Jr. making another trip to the injured list and what that means for the floundering Mets.
  • BAL Catcher #35
Adley Rutschman is not in the starting lineup for the second game of Baltimore’s doubleheader with the Astros on Thursday.
He did enough damage in the first game. Samuel Basallo will get the start and bat fifth for the Orioles as they look to sweep the proceedings on Thursday against RHP Lance McCullers Jr.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #41
Andrew Abbott picked up his first win of the season in Thursday’s 6-4 win over the Rockies, pitching six innings of two-run ball while striking out five.
Abbott surrendered five hits and two walks in the outing, including a homer off the bat of Tyler Freeman. This was his first quality start since Opening Day, ending a challenging stretch for the 26-year-old southpaw. Abbott’s whiff rate on his four-seamer has been down to begin this season, and that remained an issue against Colorado. The matchup likely helped his bottom line, but things will get tougher next time out against the Cubs in Wrigley.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Jose Altuve isn’t in the starting lineup for game two of Houston’s doubleheader against the Orioles on Thursday.
Neither is Carlos Correa. The Astros will roll with a double play combination of Brice Matthews at second base and Braden Shewmake at shortstop against RHP Brandon Young.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #24
Michael Lorenzen took the loss in Thursday’s matinee against the Reds, allowing four earned on four hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched.
Lorenzen struck out five and walked three, raising his ERA to 6.09 for the season. He’s continuing to throw seven pitches but remains limited in the shapes and velocities of those offerings. Most of his ERA damage actually came in one bad start against the Phillies, but he’s mostly serving an innings-eating role for a rebuilding Rockies team. Lorenzen’s next start lines up at Coors against the Mets.
  • CIN 1st Baseman #31
Nathaniel Lowe went 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, and two runs scored in Thursday’s victory over the Rockies.
Lowe’s homer was his fifth of the year, a second-inning solo shot off Michael Lorenzen, and he later doubled and scored again. He was playing sporadically to begin the season but has now made seven straight starts at DH with Eugenio Suárez (oblique) on the IL. All of his round-trippers have come during this stretch.
  • CIN Center Fielder #29
TJ Friedl smacked a two-run homer off Michael Lorenzen to help propel the Reds to a 6-4 win over the Rockies on Thursday.
It was his lone hit of the contest, but it gave Cincinnati a 3-2 lead in the fifth that put them ahead for good. Friedl has sat against the past five lefties the Reds have faced, but he’s hit leadoff in every game against a right-hander this season.
  • COL Right Fielder #2
Tyler Freman went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Rockies’ 6-4 loss to the Reds on Thursday.
Freeman’s homer was his first of the year, an opposite-field blast off Andrew Abbott to kick off the scoring in the first. His playing time has been sporadic this season, but he almost always bats in the 1-4 spot when he draws a start.
  • COL Center Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle went 0-for-2 with a walk, a steal, and a run scored in the Rockies’ loss to the Reds on Thursday afternoon.
Doyle plays against all lefties but shares center field with Jake McCarthy against right-handers. Thursday’s theft was his seventh of the year. Doyle is base-stealing at a more aggressive clip than in 2024, when he swiped 30 bags. It’ll be hard to replicate that 23/30 campaign without regular playing time, however. His batting line has also failed to live up to the .260 average and .186 ISO he posted that year.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #82
Jeremiah Jackson went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBI against the Astros in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday.
The game was already broken open when the Astros turned to Jason Alexander in the seventh inning, but Jackson broke it further open by walloping a sweeper over the short fence in left field in Camden Yards to stake the Orioles to a 10-1 lead. Jackson’s power has been a revelation this year, as he’s now hitting .281/300/.500 after a .276/.328/.447 cup of coffee in 48 games last year. Maybe he’s just a good enough hitter that he’ll stick somewhere even when Jackson Holliday comes off the injured list.
