Dodgers pitching prospect Zachary Bird allowed four hits, three walks, and one run, striking out seven batters over five innings for Low-A Great Lakes on Wednesday.
Bird has done much better in his return to Low-A Great Lakes, putting up a 3.93 ERA and 1.427 WHIP with a 7.5 K/9. Opposing batters have a .245/.339/.369 line against Bird, which is inflated by his 4.5 BB/9. He has a mid-90s fastball and a biting curveball, but his poor control increases his pitch counts and forces him into counts where batters can sit on his fastball.
