Dodgers OF prospect Starling Heredia went 3-for-4 with a homer on Monday for Low-A Great Lakes.
Heredia’s homer is the third of the year for the 19-year-old outfielder. He’s struggled so far in 2018, and the three hits “raise” his average to .197 on the season. There’s a reason why the Dodgers gave Heredia a $2.6 million bonus in 2015, however, and it’s because he possesses plus power from the right side, and the ball jumps off his bat when he makes contact. When is the operative term, as his long swing gives him too much swing-and-miss. He’s years away, but there’s big upside in Heredia’s bat if you’re patient.
