Braves sent LHP Chris Rusin outright to their alternate training site.
Rusin was designated for assignment by the Braves earlier this week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 33-year-old left-hander had allowed three earned runs in 3 1/3 innings this season.

Jahmai Jones is absent from Tuesday’s lineup against the Royals due to illness.
It’s a tough break for Jones since he likely would’ve been in the lineup to face Royals southpaw Cole Ragans. The 28-year-old utility specialist should be ready to go once he’s feeling better later this week.
Is there larger issue with Crochet's performance?
Eric Samulski discusses Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet's disastrous outing against the Twins and whether fantasy managers should be worried about his performance moving forward.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #29
Diamondbacks activated RHP Merrill Kelly from the 15-day injured list.
Kelly, who was supposed to be Arizona’s Opening Day starter this season, will take the ball on Tuesday night against the Orioles for his season debut. His return pushes Brandon Pfaadt to the bullpen until further notice. The 37-year-old veteran right-hander offers some appeal as a back-end rotation stabilizer in deeper fantasy formats after registering a strong pristine 3.52 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 167/48 K/BB ratio across 184 innings last year between the Diamondbacks and Rangers
  • AZ Catcher #66
Diamondbacks selected the contract of C Aramis Garcia from Triple-A Reno.
The cosmic ideal of a journeyman emergency catcher, Garcia provides Arizona with some additional depth behind James McCann and Adrian Del Castillo while starter Gabriel Moreno is on the shelf with an oblique strain.
  • AZ Catcher #14
Diamondbacks placed C Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 11, with a left oblique strain.
It turns out Moreno was dealing with an oblique strain when the Diamondbacks said he was dealing with lower back soreness. It’s a bit unclear how much time the 26-year-old backstop is going to miss, but oblique issues can be tricky matters. It’ll be James McCann and Adrian Del Castillo handling the catching duties in his absence.
  • AZ 1st Baseman #26
Diamondbacks transferred 1B/OF Pavin Smith to the 60-day injured list.
Smith has been on the shelf since late March recovering from elbow inflammation. The procedural move opens up a spot on Arizona’s 40-man roster for emergency catcher Aramis Garcia.
  • BOS Right Fielder #19
Roman Anthony is back in left field on Tuesday against the Twins.
Anthony finds himself in left field for just the third time in Boston’s last 12 contests due to some highly-publicized throwing issues. He’s been a liability when he’s out there but the Red Sox don’t have much of a choice given their present roster limitations.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #29
Red Sox transferred RHP Johan Oviedo to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Boston’s 40-man roster for rookie Jack Anderson. Oviedo hit the shelf with a flexor strain earlier this month and will be sidelined until at least early June, if not longer.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Spencer Strider (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with High-A Rome.
Strider is expected to throw roughly 40-45 pitches during his rehab debut. The 27-year-old former fantasy ace will need at least a handful of tune-up outings before he’s ready to make his season debut, likely at some point in early May. He’s been on the shelf recovering from an oblique strain since the late stages of spring training.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #55
Cole Ragans (thumb) will start on Tuesday against the Tigers.
Ragans managed to avoid serious injury after being struck by a comebacker during last Wednesday’s outing against the Guardians, which led to his early exit in the first inning after throwing just 18 pitches. The 28-year-old fantasy ace is not expected to have any workload limitations during a tough road matchup against the division-rival Tigers at Comerica Park.
  • DET 2nd Baseman #33
Colt Keith is on the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Royals.
Keith draws a rare night off with rookie Kevin McGonigle at the hot corner while Javier Báez takes over at shortstop with Matt Vierling in center field to face Royals southpaw Cole Ragans. The 24-year-old has been one of Detroit’s primary offensive catalysts this season, slashing .340/.375/.472 with 10 runs scored, seven doubles and four RBI through 15 games.
