Pirates sent RHP Blake Cederlind outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The 26-year-old hurler underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2021 and is still working his way back. He underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up loose bodies in his elbow back in August, but the Pirates are hopeful that he’ll be ready to go for the start of spring training. He’s no longer protected from the Rule 5 draft.

Will Benson went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit game-tying home run in the ninth inning against the Royals on Tuesday.

Benson’s home run was his third of the year. He pinch hit to lead-off the bottom of the ninth inning and tied the game with a solo home run off Royals reliever Lucas Erceg. Benson is a bench bat who will continue to see most of his at-bats come against right-handed pitching.

Spencer Steer

CIN Left Fielder #7

Spencer Steer went 2-for-4 with three runs and two solo home runs against the Royals on Tuesday.

Steer’s two-homer game gives him nine home runs on the season. He hit a solo shot off Noah Cameron in the fifth inning, which was the only hit allowed by the Royals’ starter. Steer also hit a solo blast off Matt Strahm in the eighth inning. He’s hitting .277 with 23 RBI and an .812 OPS.

Lucas Erceg

KC Relief Pitcher #60

Lucas Erceg allowed a run and blew the save against the Reds on Tuesday.

Erceg has been given all kinds of runway as the Royals’ closer since Carlos Estévez (shoulder) went down with an injury, but all he’s done is blow game after game for Kansas City. On Tuesday, Erceg was protecting a one-run lead and allowed a game-tying home run to the first batter he faced in Will Benson. He now has six blown saves and a 6.45 ERA to go with his 11 saves. Fantasy managers as well as the Royals have to be considering alternative options at this point.

Noah Cameron

KC Starting Pitcher #65

Noah Cameron allowed one run in seven innings and got a no-decision against the Reds on Tuesday.

Cameron gave up one hit, walked none and struck out eight. It was a dominant performance from the 26-year-old left-hander. The only hit Cameron allowed was a solo home run to Spencer Steer in the fifth inning. He lowered his ERA to 4.22 on the year. His 3.70 xFIP shows there’s still more room for Cameron to lower his ERA. He’ll have his next chance against the Twins on Sunday.

Andrew Abbott

CIN Starting Pitcher #41

Andrew Abbott allowed three runs in six inning and got a no-decision in the Reds’ 4-3 victory over the Royals on Tuesday.

Abbott gave up five hits, walked four and struck out five. He left the game trailing 3-1, but the Reds scored in the ninth inning to tie the game and get him off the hook for the loss. Abbott has a 4.06 ERA this year after posting a 2.87 ERA last year despite having a 4.31 xFIP. His xFIP this year is 4.87. Abbott doesn’t have the underlying skills to fall back on, making him a mediocre pitcher who’s difficult to trust in fantasy. He’s lined up to face the Padres on the road next week.

Josh Staumont

Reds released RHP Josh Staumont.

Staumont hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2024 campaign due to injury. The 32-year-old reliever was pitching in the lower minors in the Reds’ system this season.

Kazuma Okamoto

TOR 3rd Baseman #7

Kazuma Okamoto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run against the Braves on Tuesday.

Okamoto’s home run was his 13th. He hit a two-run shot off Bryce Elder with two outs in the second inning. The Blue Jays would only score one other run and lose 4-3. Despite excellent power numbers (.216 ISO), Okamoto is hitting .221. His 31.8 percent strikeout percentage is going to keep his average down while his power continues to drive his fantasy value.

Matt Olson

ATL 1st Baseman #28

Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and a solo home run against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Olson’s home run was his 17th of the season. He started the sixth inning by hitting a solo shot off Kevin Gausman. Olson’s home run was the deciding run of the game. He’s hitting .265 with 46 RBI and a .901 OPS.

Raisel Iglesias

ATL Relief Pitcher #26

Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Iglesias’ save was his 11th of the year. After the Braves signed Robert Suarez this offseason, some fantasy managers were worried about Iglesias’ role. The 36-year-old right-hander has undeniably been one of the better closer picks at this point considering he’s 11-for-11 in save opportunities and has a 0.96 ERA.
