Nationals designated RHP Andrés Machado for assignment.
Machado has allowed struggled to an inflated 8.47 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (14 appearances) this season in the majors. The 30-year-old righty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and will have the option to elect free agency or accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester.

Cody Bellinger went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a walk in the Yankees’ 9-2 drubbing of the Rangers on Thursday.
Paul Goldschmidt and Bellinger both had Joc Pederson-aided triples in the first today. Bellinger’s was a liner in front of Pederson that a faster right fielder probably would have made a diving play on. Pederson tried to and had the ball bounce over him. It was Bellinger’s AL-leading third triple of the year. His OPS is all of the way up .924 with him having opened May 14-for-26 with 10 extra-base hits in seven games.
Glasnow's K milestone marred by early exit
After making MLB history on Wednesday, James Schiano dives into Tyler Glasnow's early removal, assessing how fantasy managers should move forward with the "mercurial" starting pitcher.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #75
Making his MLB debut, Brendan Beck allowed two runs over three innings as a bulk guy Thursday against the Rangers.
Beck walked three and gave up a homer to Ezequiel Duran in the 52-pitch outing. He’ll likely head back down in exchange for a fresh arm prior to Friday’s contest.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #1
MacKenzie Gore was charged with five runs in 5 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Yankees.
On the one hand, Gore wasn’t particularly good today in striking out three, walking three and giving up nine hard-hit balls. But on the other hand, perhaps no pitcher this season has been let down more often by his defense than Gore was today. He gave up two triples in the first that a quality right fielder might have gotten to. The Rangers, though, were playing Joc Pederson in right in his first outfield start in three years. Later, Gore saw an infield popup drop because Josh Jung, who had his shades on the bill of his cap, lost it in the sun. Gore still allowed just the one run through five, when it was Alejandro Osuna’s turn to flop. He got an awful break on a flyball single in front of him and then took a lousy route to Trent Grisham’s three-run double with the bases loaded. With just competent outfield play, Gore would have allowed one or zero runs over six innings today. He’ll face the Diamondbacks next.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Trent Grisham went 3-for-5 with a three-run double Thursday against the Rangers.
Grisham was on the short list of the league’s unluckiest hitters over the first three weeks of the season, but today helped make up for that. His first hit was an infield popup that Josh Jung lost in the sun. His big hit was the double in the sixth that knocked MacKenzie Gore out of the game. It was quite well struck at 104.5 mph, but it likely would have been caught if Alejandro Osuna had played it better. It’s Grisham’s first three-hit game of the year.
  • NYY 3rd Baseman #19
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two walks Thursday against the Rangers.
The walks were his first since April 19. McMahon was supposed to get a break against a left-hander today, but he entered after Jasson Domínguez was injured on the first play of the game and had one of his best games of the year. He’s 9-for-22 with a homer this month, raising his OPS from .518 to .662.
  • BOS 2nd Baseman #30
Red Sox recalled INF Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester.
The versatile 30-year-old will add another bat to the Red Sox’ bench with Roman Anthony (wrist) landing on the injured list on Thursday. Gasper was off to a terrific start offensively at the Triple-A level, slashing .296/.429/.519 with six homers, 27 RBI, three stolen bases and a 27/25 K/BB ratio across his first 133 plate appearances.
  • BOS Left Fielder #19
Red Sox placed OF Roman Anthony on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 4, with a right wrist sprain.
This isn’t completely unexpected, as the Red Sox have had to play shorthanded for most of the week while Anthony attempted to work his way back from this issue. He hasn’t suffered any setbacks, he’s simply not progressing as quickly as they would have hoped and it’s still going to be at least a few more days before he’s ready. Mickey Gaspar was recalled from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.
  • DET Shortstop #38
Tigers sent INF Zack Short to Triple-A Toledo.
Short was designated for assignment on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll accept the outright assignment or if he’ll decide to explore the open market instead. The defensive specialist went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his limited action with the Tigers this time around.
  • DET Starting Pitcher
Tigers sent RHP Yoneil Curet outright to Triple-A Toledo.
The 23-year-old hurler was removed from the club’s 40-man roster over the weekend to free up a spot for the promotion of Ricky Vanasco. Curet will accept the assignment and will continue to function as extra pitching depth at the Triple-A level.
  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday afternoon that Jasson Dominguez was diagnosed with a low-grade left AC sprain in his left shoulder and would require a trip to the injured list.
The 23-year-old slugger sustained the shoulder injury, as well as a head injury, when he crashed into the wall during the first inning of Thursday’s contest against the Rangers. So far, all concussion tests have come back negative. When asked about a timeline, Boone noted that Dominguez would miss at least “a few weeks”. Fantasy managers can expect to be without him for most, if not all, of May.
