Pirates placed RHP Angel Perdomo on the 15-day injured list with left elbow discomfort.
That is one injury you never like to see, especially with a pitcher. The 29-year-old posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 30 appearances for the rebuilding Pirates.

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker told reporters on Tuesday that Nathan Eovaldi remains day-to-day with left side discomfort.
The Rangers appear to be in a bit of a holding pattern with Eovaldi after Schumaker didn’t have much of an update for reporters prior to Tuesday’s contest. The 36-year-old veteran was scratched from Monday’s start against the Diamondbacks with left side discomfort. It doesn’t appear that he’s headed to the injured list, but the Rangers haven’t divulged when they think he’ll be ready to take the ball again. There should be greater clarity on his status at some point later this week once he resumes throwing.
Bolte a volatile prospect for Athletics outfield
Eric Samulski explains Henry Bolte's outlook in the MLB with the Athletics calling up the outfielder prospect from the minors.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford (forearm) remains shut down from swinging a bat.
Langford told reporters he’s optimistic he can return in two or three weeks, which would be prior to the end of May. That seems a bit unlikely since he hasn’t been cleared to swing a bat or throw yet. The 24-year-old fantasy standout has been on the shelf recovering from a right forearm strain since April 22. There should be a clearer return timetable at some point in the coming weeks, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect a return anytime soon.
  • TEX Designated Hitter #3
Joc Pederson is at DH and hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
Pederson will get a chance at the top of the order to face Diamondbacks righty Zac Gallen during Tuesday’s contest. The 34-year-old veteran has mostly batted towards the bottom of the order this season. He’s posted a pedestrian .665 OPS with two homers and eight RBI through 37 games. He remains a non-factor in the overwhelming majority of fantasy leagues.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. is at second base and hitting second on Tuesday against the Brewers.
Tatis remains in search of his first home run of the season heading into his 40th game of the season during Tuesday’s series opener in Milwaukee. However, he’s going to make his 10th appearance at the keystone already this season, which has significant fantasy ramifications moving forward since he’ll gain eligibility in most leagues at one of the scarcest position groups in the game.
  • MIA Right Fielder #17
Owen Caissie (triceps) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Twins.
Caissie will sit out his second consecutive contest after being scratched from Sunday’s lineup with left triceps discomfort. The 23-year-old rookie outfielder has gotten off to a slow start in his Miami debut, hitting .198/.254/.317 with two homers, 17 RBI and two thefts in 114 plate appearances over 35 games.
  • HOU Shortstop #3
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Jeremy Peña (hamstring) will require a handful of minor league rehab games before being activated.
It sounds like Peña, who has been on the shelf working his way back from a hamstring strain since April 13, will spend most of this week on a rehab assignment. It makes sense since he’s been out of game action for nearly an entire month. There’s a chance he’s ready to return to Houston at some point later this week, but fantasy managers shouldn’t count on it.
  • FA Center Fielder #8
    Padres released OF Alex Verdugo.
The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Kevin Acee reports Verdugo will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. The 29-year-old outfielder never wound up appearing in a game for the Padres after signing a minor league contract back in early March.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #55
Cole Ragans (elbow) played catch for the second straight day on Tuesday.
Royals manager Matt Quatratro told reporters Ragans is going to play catch again on Wednesday before they determine his next steps. The 28-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter hit the shelf with an elbow impingement last Friday. There’s a chance he’s cleared to rejoin Kansas City’s rotation relatively quickly if he’s able to progress to throwing bullpen sessions without any setbacks.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize (adductor) progressed to facing hitters on Monday in a live batting practice session.
It’s a significant development as Mize continues to work his way back from an adductor strain that put him on the shelf back on April 29. The 29-year-old righty, who posted a solid 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 35/11 K/BB ratio across 31 innings prior to the injury, could potentially skip a minor league rehab assignment before jumping back into Detroit’s rotation, but that’s not a guarantee.
  • PIT Catcher #13
Pirates recalled C/1B Endy Rodríguez from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Rodríguez returns to the majors with fellow backstop Joey Bart heading to the injured list with a foot infection. The 25-year-old was considered one of the better catching prospects in the game just a couple years ago before elbow issues derailed him. He’s batted just .210/.276/.311 with three homers in 261 plate appearances over 75 games in the big leagues dating back to 2023.
