According to USATODAY’s Bob Nightengale, the White Sox will likely make Chris Getz their new general manager.

One would think it’s time for the White Sox to start over, but that’s just not Jerry Reinsdorf’s style. The 39-year-old Getz, who played seven seasons in the major leagues, is currently the White Sox’s assistant GM and player development director. Nightengale also says that the team wants to bring in former Royals GM Dayton Moore, who is currently working for the Rangers, and that it’s already brought back former manager Tony La Russa as a consultant. We’re so very sorry, White Sox fans.

Rockies signed RHP Erasmo Ramírez to a minor league contract.

Ramírez will get a look with Colorado after a decent showing in the World Baseball Classic earlier this spring. The 36-year-old journeyman has racked up 336 appearances between seven different organizations since 2012. He posted a solid 2.45 ERA across 11 innings for the Twins last year.

LAA Starting Pitcher #57

Walbert Ureña gave up only one run and two hits over six innings to pick up his first MLB victory Wednesday in the Angels’ 8-2 takedown of the White Sox.

Ureña had five strikeouts, including three of Munetaka Murakami. He allowed just three hard-hit balls. Ureña is still far from being a mixed-league option, but his 3.22 ERA in four starts and two relief appearances is nice, even if it is the product of six of his 14 runs allowed being unearned. He’s struck out 22 and walked 16 in 22 1/3 innings. He’ll likely make his next start Tuesday in Cleveland.

Chase Silseth

LAA Relief Pitcher #63

Chase Silseth struck out four in two scoreless innings for the Angels to conclude Wednesday’s win over the White Sox.

Silseth entered with a five-run lead, so it wasn’t a save situation. However, he might be a candidate for some of those at some point. He has a 2.70 ERA and three holds through 13 1/3 innings.

Noah Schultz

CWS Starting Pitcher #76

Noah Schultz was tagged for seven runs in 3 2/3 innings by the Angels in a loss Wednesday.

Schultz walked four and settled for just three strikeouts even though he had 12 whiffs. In five starts since his callup, he’s sporting a 23/16 K/BB ratio in 25 innings, which isn’t going to cut it. Of course, he will get better, but he might spend a little more time in Triple-A before he establishes himself. For now, though, he should stay in the rotation and face the Royals next week.

Bryce Teodosio

LAA Left Fielder #22

Bryce Teodosio went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two steals against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Teodosio is easily the Angels’ best center fielder, but with Mike Trout most comfortable in the middle, Teodosio has been starting in left when both play. While he’s definitely not known for his bat, he’s hit a respectable .278/.333/.333 with four steals in 40 plate appearances. Most likely, he’s going to be needed in center at some point during the season.

Munetaka Murakami

CWS 3rd Baseman #5

Munetaka Murakami struck out four times in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

It’s the second golden sombrero for Murakami, whose 55 strikeouts place him tied for second most in the majors. He’s still tied for first with his 14 homers.

Yacksel Rios

CHC Relief Pitcher #40

Cubs sent RHP Yacksel Ríos outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Ríos will presumably stick around as emergency organizational relief depth for the Cubs after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 32-year-old righty tossed 1 2/3 innings in his lone appearance for Chicago prior to being designated for assignment last weekend.

Astros OF Daniel Johnson elected free agency.

Johnson will test the open market after going unclaimed on waivers after being removed from Houston’s roster earlier this week. The 30-year-old journeyman went 2-for-14 at the plate in eight games for the Astros.

Jorge Polanco (wrist) remains shut down from baseball activities.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Polanco isn’t close to starting a rehab assignment. The 32-year-old hit the injured list with a right wrist contusion back on April 18. Clearly, the Mets aren’t going to rush him back after he missed time with wrist and Achilles issues last month.
