Mets recalled RHP Sam Coonrod from Triple-A Syracuse.
He’ll take the place of the injured Carlos Carrasco (finger) on the Mets’ active roster. The 30-year-old right-hander has been terrific in his limited time with the Mets this season, posting a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 5/4 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings. He should be a fixture in their bullpen over the final month of the regular season.

Ildemaro Vargas was removed from Tuesday’s game against the White Sox with a fractured right foot.
The hits keep on coming for the Diamondbacks. It seems like a virtual lock that Vargas will require a trip to the injured list after suffering a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot when he was hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s game in Chicago. There should be a definitive update ahead of Wednesday’s series finale.
Rutschman to be sidelined through All-Star break
Eric Samulski discusses Adley Rutschman suffering an oblique injury that will keep him out through the All-Star break, sharing why fantasy baseball managers should consider dropping Rutschman and picking up Gary Sanchez.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #11
Yu Darvish (elbow) will throw a simulated game on Wednesday.
Darvish continues inching closer towards making his season debut. The 38-year-old righty has been out all season working his way back from elbow inflammation. He should be ready to make a rehab start at some point before the end of June or early July.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #6
Ildemaro Vargas made an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the White Sox after being hit by a pitch on the right foot.
What is going on in Arizona? Seriously. Vargas becomes the latest position player to be hit by a pitch in the last few days joining both Corbin Carroll (wrist) and Eugenio Suárez (hand) over the last few days. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #47
Twins signed RHP José Ureña to a minor league contract.
Ureña heads to his fourth different organization already this season after making nine appearances combined between the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Mets. The 33-year-old journeyman figures to operate in a swingman-type role if he makes it to Minnesota.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
Max Meyer is scheduled to undergo season-ending left hip surgery.
Meyer will undergo the labral repair procedure on Friday, which carries a 6-8 month recovery timetable. It’s a significant hit to Miami’s rotation depth. The 26-year-old righty can obviously be dropped in all fantasy formats. He should be ready for spring training based on the timing of the surgery. He showed some real flashes of potential early this season, including a 14-strikeout gem on April 21, before getting hit hard over his final handful of starts.
  • FA Right Fielder #22
    Padres released OF Jason Heyward.
Heyward is now free to pursue an opportunity elsewhere after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 35-year-old veteran was designated for assignment over the weekend after posting a lackluster .176/.223/.271 triple-slash line with two homers in 34 games this season for the Padres.
  • WSH Catcher #81
Nationals recalled C Drew Millas from Triple-A Rochester.
Millas joins the Nationals ahead of Tuesday’s game in San Francisco with starter Keibert Ruiz landing on the injured list with a head contusion after being struck by a foul ball in the dugout during Monday’s series opener. The 27-year-old backstop will function in a backup role behind Riley Adams moving forward.
  • WSH Catcher #20
Nationals placed C Keibert Ruiz on the 10-day injured list with a head contusion.
Ruiz heads to the injured list after being lifted from Monday’s series opener against the Padres when he was struck on the side of the head while in the dugout by a foul ball from teammate Josh Bell. It’s the second time in the past week that a player has been struck by a foul ball after a similar incident occurred last week involving Rays reliever Hunter Bigge. It’ll be Riley Adams handling the catching duties in his absence.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
Shohei Ohtani is likely to make his next start on Saturday against the Royals.
Nothing official since Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters he’s leaving it “open-ended” for when Ohtani will make his next pitching appearance. He did take a moment while speaking to reporters to shoot down the idea of Ohtani pitching in next month’s All-Star Game. The 30-year-old two-way superstar struck out a pair of batters in a scoreless frame on Sunday against the Nationals.
  • ATH Catcher #23
Shea Langeliers (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Langeliers has been on the shelf since early June working his way back from a left oblique strain. The 27-year-old backstop should only need a handful of rehab contests to get back up to speed and should return to the Athletics’ lineup by the end of the week or early next week.
