Alexis Diaz suffered his sixth loss of the season on Saturday night, giving up four runs on five hits in just 2/3 of an inning against the Pirates.
This one was ugly. The Reds jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the ballgame, but the Pirates continued to chip away and had tied the score at nine apiece heading to the eighth inning. Trying to pull out all the stops, Reds’ skipper David Bell turned to his All-Star closer, but Diaz delivered his worst outing of the season — allowing four runs on five hits and a hit batsmen, allowing the Pirates to run away with the game. It’s going to take a few days to wash off the bad feeling from this one.
