Huang was picked up from the Giants in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft last offseason and went on to post a serviceable 3.99 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 101/32 K/BB ratio across 79 innings (27 appearances, 16 starts) in Pittsburgh’s system. The 30-year-old righty made four relief appearances for the Rangers back in 2019.

STL Starting Pitcher #32

Matthew Liberatore allowed four runs while working five innings and picking up a loss Monday to the Guardians.

It’s back-to-back starts where Liberatore has allowed four runs while working only five innings, and that’s not the kind of consistency fantasy managers are looking for. He allowed six hits and three walks, and traffic — and the ability to keep that traffic from scoring — has been an issue over these last two outings. Liberatore has a tough task against a hot-hitting Houston lineup over the weekend. It’s probably best to look elsewhere.

Gavin Williams

CLE Starting Pitcher #32

Gavin Williams worked five innings while surrendering two runs in a win over the Cardinals on Monday.

Williams walked two, but had much better command than his start Tuesday against Kansas City when he issued five walks and threw just 55-of-102 pitches for strikes. He was able to land 62-of-93 in this outing, and he generated a respectable 10 swings and misses with four strikeouts. A solid — if unspectacular — effort from Williams, and he’ll look to keep it up with a few more punchouts against the Orioles come Saturday.

Ryan Jeffers

MIN Catcher #27

Ryan Jeffers finished 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and a walk Monday in the Twins’ 13-6 rout of the Red Sox.

Victor Caratini, Ryan Kreidler and Byron Buxton also homered for the Twins in this one. Jeffers’ second three-hit day in three games gave him a .317/.440/.512 line through 51 plate appearances. He’s never maintained that kind of pace for long and probably won’t this year, either, but batting fourth and fifth regularly adds to his value in two-catcher leagues.

Bailey Ober

MIN Starting Pitcher #17

Bailey Ober allowed four runs over six innings in an easy win over the Red Sox on Monday.

With 11 runs of support in two innings, Ober didn’t have much to worry about in this one. He gave up three runs in third, but it was a quiet outing otherwise. Ober averaged 89.4 mph with his fastball, which is an improvement. He was at 89.8 mph in his season opener, but he’d been down to 88.6 mph and 88.1 mph in his last two outings. He’s now 2-0 in spite of a 5.49 ERA in four starts. Last year, he went 6-9 with a 5.10 ERA in 27 starts. He’ll make his next start at home versus the Reds.

Ryan Kreidler

MIN Center Fielder #5

Ryan Kreidler hit a ball 438 feet off Garrett Crochet for third major league homer on Monday.

Kreidler, who is getting starts versus lefty with Royce Lewis out, had two previous major league homers in 215 plate appearances, one each in 2022 and ’24 with the Tigers. The projected distance on tonight’s blast bested his previous high by 30 feet. His 108.9-mph exit velocity topped his previous high by two mph. It’s probably not a complete fluke; his bat speed is well up to begin the year. Still, it’s doubtful he’ll make enough contact to be much of a contributor.

Jarren Duran

BOS Left Fielder #16

Jarren Duran hit his first homer of the year Monday, connecting on a two-run blast off the Twins’ Bailey Ober.

Duran’s stung the ball 112.2 mph. Let’s see if it’s enough to keep him in the lineup on Tuesday with Alex Cora surely itching to get Masataka Yoshida back in there.

Jackson Rutledge

WSH Relief Pitcher #44

Nationals optioned RHP Jackson Rutledge to Triple-A Rochester.

Rutledge was lit up for seven runs over 1 1/3 innings during Monday’s blowout loss to the Pirates, earning a ticket right back to the minors after his season debut. The 27-year-old righty will be back once Washington needs a fresh bullpen arm, but he’s going to spend some time back at the Triple-A level for now.
