Bañuelos spent last year pitching for the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball after making a career-high 35 relief appearances during the 2022 campaign between the Pirates and Yankees. The 32-year-old lefty was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball a decade ago, but never really wound up panning out at the highest level for a variety of reasons. TINSTAAPP.

Lowder gave up four hits, walked four and committed two errors on pickoff throws, so it’s kind of impressive that he allowed just the two runs. Expectations are that the 24-year-old righty will have a spot in Cincinnati’s rotation with Hunter Greene sidelined. He should eventually prove to be a reliable third or fourth starter, but he might be a little too inconsistent to amass mixed-league value in his first full big-league season.

Osuna has no extra-base hits this spring, but he does have six singles and five walks in 24 plate appearances, giving him a .458 OBP. He’s also 3-for-3 stealing bases. The Rangers figure to send him down instead of carrying him as a fourth outfielder, but he could be called up to serve as a starter if one of the guys ahead of him goes down.

Sosa ignited a three-run rally in the second inning with a leadoff double off of Justin Wrobleski. He then smacked a run-scoring single in the third inning that increased the White Sox’ advantage to 4-0 before scoring on a two-run single off the bat of Tristan Peters. The 26-year-old infielder is having a strong spring, hitting .303 (10-for-33) with two homers, seven RBI and a stolen base in 37 plate appearances. The recent injury to Kyle Teel opens the door for Sosa to see more work as the designated hitter in addition to spelling others around the infield.

Unfortunately, on a day where Vasil was brilliant on the mound, his day ended on a low note as he was pulled due to elbow soreness in the fourth inning. Vasil lost his command and issued back-to-back walks to Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy, prompting a visit from the training staff. He’ll undergo additional evaluation and imaging to see what’s going on here. Look for the White Sox to provide an update on his status on Sunday.

Betts worked a one-out walk off of Grant Taylor in the sixth inning and ultimately scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Alex Freeland. He bounced into a double play and struck out in his other two plate appearances. For the spring, the 33-year-old shortstop is hitting a solid .313 (5-for-16) though he has just one RBI and has yet to hit a home run or steal a base.

Wrobleski also issued a pair of walks in the contest while striking out three. He navigated the first inning without any issues, but the White Sox pushed across three runs against him in the second inning and another pair while chasing him in the third. The 25-year-old hurler got eight swings and misses on 68 pitches on the afternoon — five on his fastball — while posting an underwhelming CSW of 19 percent. This outing definitely didn’t help his cause in securing a spot in the Dodgers’ Opening Day rotation. Overall, he sports a 5.40 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 7/2 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings on the spring.

Hamilton victimized Rockies’ closer Victor Vodnik in the second inning, crushing a 431-foot (107.3 mph EV) three-run shot that gave the Brewers an early lead that they’d never relinquish. He also plated a run with a groundout in the fifth inning that increased the Brewers’ edge to 7-2. Hamilton is having a solid spring overall at the plate, hitting .265 (9-for-34) with a homer, seven RBI and four stolen bases. He’s expected to function in a utility role for the Brewers, but could be an interesting late-round speed option in deeper leagues if he finds his way into regular at-bats.

The 23-year-old right-hander scattered four hits and a pair of walks in the contest. The damage done against him all came in the first inning on an RBI single by Jordan Beck and a sacrifice fly by TJ Rumfield. He settled in nicely after that and blanked the Rockies over his final three innings. Misiorowski got 10 whiffs on 70 pitches on the day — six of those on his curveball — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. His velocity was still a bit down in this one, averaging 97.6 mph on his heater (-1.7 mph), though it doesn’t feel like there’s reason for concern. He now holds a 3.68 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 12/3 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 innings on the spring.

The 24-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in the ballgame, lining an RBI single off of Jacob Misorowski in the top half of the first inning. He then swiped second base and took third on an error before being stranded there. Beck then tagged Brandon Sproat for a 423-foot (107.8 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning that made it 7-3. He has been locked in at the plate this spring, hitting .314 (11-for-35) with a pair of homers, three RBI and a stolen base.

Ouch. Vodnik also issued a pair of walks while recording both of his outs via the strikeout. Vodnik took over in the second inning of this one and walked two of the first three hitters he faced before serving up a three-run homer to light-hitting infielder David Hamilton. He also allowed another couple of singles before turning the ball over to the bullpen and one of those inherited runners ultimately scored. The presumed closer to open the season for the Rockies, Vodnik has struggled to a 27.00 ERA and 4.88 WHIP over 2 2/3 innings in three Cactus League outings this spring. Perhaps Rockies’ skipper Warren Schaeffer may want to go in a different direction in the ninth inning.
