Giants signed RHP Jordan Hicks to a four-year, $44 million contract.
The deal, which was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan last week, is now becomes official after Hicks passed his physical. The Athletic’s Eno Sarris adds that the pact includes up to $2 million per-season in performance-based incentives based on innings pitched. The Giants have claimed that Hicks — who has operated in relief since breaking into the big leagues back in 2018 — will get a legitimate chance as a traditional starter, but it feels more likely that he could act as a multi-inning “follower,” which the Giants have used often in recent years. The hard-throwing righty offers some appeal as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues at the outset of the 2024 campaign.
