Xander Bogaerts will play shortstop this year, according to Padres manager Mike Shildt.
It doesn’t seem like the Padres made much of an attempt to keep free agent Ha-Seong Kim, who started out playing shortstop for the club last year. Bogaerts will definitely be happy to be back at his natural spot. The Padres are also slated to use Luis Arraez at first and Jake Cronenworth at second, assuming that neither is traded.

Masyn Winn underwent an MRI on his left knee that didn’t reveal any structural damage.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol added that Winn is day-to-day with left knee discomfort after imaging came back clean. It sounds like there’s optimism he’ll be ready to return to the lineup at some point this week.

  • ATL Center Fielder #23
Michael Harris II went 2-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and a stolen base in the Braves’ 8-4 defeat of the Marlins on Tuesday.
Harris had the two hardest-hit balls of the game in his 111-mph single and 110-mph homer, which tied the game off Andrew Nardi in the sixth inning. It was Harris’s third homer this year off a lefty, matching his 2025 total in less than one-third as many plate appearances. He has nine homers overall and is 3-for-3 stealing bases.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #33
Martín Pérez fanned 10 for the first time in his career while allowing four runs in five innings Tuesday against the Marlins.
15 seasons and 285 starts into his career, Pérez finally reaches double figures. He’d struck out nine four times previously. In spite of the strikeouts, it wasn’t a great game for Pérez, as six of the 11 balls in play against him were hit hard. Also, both batters he walked came around to score. Still, Pérez has a 2.85 ERA through 41 innings. He’ll face the Nationals on Sunday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #20
Braxton Garrett will be sent back to Triple-A after allowing two runs and walking three in three innings Tuesday against the Braves.
It’s so odd seeing Garrett struggle with his control like this. He walked eight in just 4 1/3 innings over his two starts for the Marlins. Prior to his elbow surgery, he had just a 4.8 percent walk rate from 2022-24. The Marlins will surely give him another try once things improve. In the meantime, they could try Bradley Blalock or Ryan Gusto.
  • MIA Shortstop #6
Otto Lopez finished 3-for-4 with a walk, a steal and two runs scored Tuesday versus the Marlins.
It was a good day at the plate for Lopez, but he got lazy on a big play in the eighth. Mauricio Dubón hit a weak grounder to Christopher Morel’s right at first base, and Morel wanted to fire to second for the forceout, but Lopez didn’t cover from short. Morel was then stuck without a play, and Dubón was credited with the go-ahead RBI single in a 4-4 game.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Making his return from a hamstring injury, Ronald Acuña Jr. doubled, walked twice and scored three runs Tuesday against the Marlins.
Acuña served as a DH today in his first start since coming off the injured list on Monday, but he looked like he was running well on the basepaths. His double was a 109-mph liner that would have been a homer in a couple of ballparks. It sounds like he’ll probably continue to DH against the Marlins because of the turf in Miami, but he should return to the outfield this weekend.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Eric Lauer is penciled in to start next Tuesday against the Rockies.
Lauer is available to pitch out of the bullpen this week after being plucked off waivers from the Blue Jays over the weekend. He’ll jump into Los Angeles’ rotation at some point next week as a replacement for Blake Snell, who underwent NanoScope surgery on his left elbow this week. The 30-year-old lefty is a non-factor fantasy-wise but his arrival means intriguing pitching prospect River Ryan will remain in Triple-A.
  • ATL Catcher #30
Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters Drake Baldwin has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right oblique strain.
It’s a best-case outcome for Atlanta and fantasy managers after Baldwin landed on the injured list prior to Tuesday’s game against the Marlins. A low-grade oblique strain typically carries a 3–4 week recovery timeline, putting him in line for a mid-to-late June return. The 25-year-old burgeoning star has been the most impactful catcher in fantasy this season, hitting .303/.389/.543 with 13 homers and 38 RBI through 48 games. A clearer timetable should come once he resumes baseball activities.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #52
Troy Melton (elbow) struck out six and allowed one run over five innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Low-A Lakeland.
Melton threw 46 of 63 pitches for strikes while sitting in the mid-90’s, while topping out at 98 mph with his fastball, according to MLB.com’s Jason Beck. The 25-year-old righty has pretty much wrapped up his rehab process from an elbow strain and figures to rejoin Detroit’s rotation when he’s eligible to come off the injured list in late May.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #41
Dodgers optioned RHP Wyatt Mills to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Mills heads back to the minors to make room for veteran lefty Eric Lauer on the Dodgers’ active roster. The 31-year-old righty allowed three runs over 3 1/3 innings during four appearances for the Dodgers since being called up back on May 10.
