Yonathan Perlaza went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored for Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.
Perlaza is having a good season for the Padres, hitting .298/.382/.486 in 85 games at Triple-A with nine home runs, 11 steals, and 62 RBI. He was good for the Cubs in Triple-A in 2023 as well, hitting .284/.389/.534 with 23 home runs and 13 steals in 121 games at Triple-A before going to Korea and hitting 24 home runs in the KBO in 2024. Perhaps Perlaza gets a shot with the Padres in the second half if they don’t add an outfielder at the trade deadline.

Reds designated LHP Brandon Leibrandt for assignment.
Leibrandt was just called up on Monday after posting a 5.23 ERA in 11 Triple-A starts this season. He was called up to pitch on Monday, with Chase Burns (illness) unable to pitch. He allowed five runs on 10 hits in six innings. It’s likely that he clears waivers and re-signs with the Reds on a minor league contract.
Reynolds putting together a solid season
Bryan Reynolds has been heating up as of late, with the two-time All-Star proving he still has plenty left in the tank for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #72
Reds designated RHP Lyon Richardson for assignment.
Richardson had a rough outing on Monday, allowing four runs on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. That may have been his final outing as a member of the Reds. Richardson will likely clear waivers, and he can opt to re-sign with the Reds on a minor league deal if he wants.

Reds selected the contract of RHP Zach McCambley from Triple-A Louisville
McCambley came to the Reds two weeks ago as part of the Rece Hinds trade with the Marlins. A former starting pitcher, McCambley has a 2.37 ERA and 37/18 K/BB ratio in 30 1/3 innings in 15 appearances (two starts) in Triple-A this season. He will provide depth out of the bullpen.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #47
Reds recalled RHP Luis Mey from Triple-A Louisville
Mey was last with the Reds for the first two weeks of May. He has posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 13/5 K/BB ratio across eight innings so far this season.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins optioned RHP Zach Brzykcy to Triple-A Jacksonville
Brzykcy was just called up on Monday to give the Marlins some fresh arms in the bullpen. He’ll now head down so the Marlins can call up Ryan Gusto to be a bulk reliever on Tuesday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #65
Marlins recalled RHP Ryan Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville
Gusto has previously worked as a starter, but he’s been both a starter and reliever for the Marlins in Triple-A, posting a 3.83 ERA and 52/17 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings across 10 appearances (seven starts). The 27-year-old is also striking out more batters than he ever has in his minor league career, in part, due to a revamped slider, which is two mph harder and has become a bigger part of his arsenal. Equipped with a six-pitch mix, Gusto could find himself on the streaming radar if that slider has taken a legitimate step forward.

Braves selected the contract of RHP Carlos Carrasco to the major league roster.
The 39-year-old Carrasco has twice been designated for assignment by the Braves this season and signed back to the team. This will now be the third time they have selected his contract to the big league roster. Carrasco has allowed two runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings while striking out four and not walking a batter. It remains to be seen how long he’ll last on the roster this time.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins (shoulder) has begun hitting off a machine and doing defensive work.
The Twins’ top prospect has been out since the beginning of May with a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. The Twins are hoping that he can progress to live batting practice this week and then begin a rehab assignment next week. He would then likely return to games at Triple-A St. Paul, where he had a .250/.389/.386 slash line with two homers and five steals in 24 games.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #58
David Festa (shoulder impingement) has begun his throwing progression.
Festa was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement back at the end of March and has spent the entire season on the injured list. He is still three weeks from throwing off a mound, so even if everything progresses without setbacks, the earliest he would be an option for the Twins is likely in mid-August.
  • MIN Left Fielder #18
Alan Roden (labrum tear) has begun throwing and could take live batting practice this week.
Roden has been on the injured list since April 24th after suffering a shoulder injury on April 17th. If he does get his batting practice sessions in this week, he will likely begin a rehab assignment next week and then would likely need at least two weeks of games before the Twins would even consider bringing him up to the big leagues. There’s also a chance he’s activated off the injured list and kept at Triple-A, where he began the season.
