Foscue, 26, has spent the majority of the season at the Triple-A level where he has slashed .262/.353/.471 with 10 homers, 37 RBI, three stolen bases and a 32/27 K/BB ratio over 239 plate appearances. He’ll add depth on the infield for the big league club. Michael Helman was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Trevor Rogers (illness) threw a simulated game during a bullpen session on Saturday and came away feeling good.

The Orioles don’t believe that Rogers will require a minor league rehab start before rejoining the rotation and there’s growing expectation that he’ll take the ball at some point during their upcoming series against the Yankees. While it’s encouraging for fantasy managers to get the 28-year-old southpaw back, a single-start week against the Yankees is far from an ideal situation. It may be best to give him a week to round back into form before throwing him back into lineups.

Angels signed LHP Rob Kaminsky to a minor league contract.

The 31-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2020 season with the Cardinals where he posted a 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 4 2/3 innings. He made one appearance for Team Israel during the World Baseball Classic, giving up one run on four hits across 1 2/3 innings. He’ll add extra bullpen depth in the minors for the Halos.

Grayson Rodriguez

LAA Starting Pitcher #21

Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) will make a minor league rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

The 26-year-old right-hander is scheduled to throw around 90 pitches or six innings in the outing. If all goes well with this outing, it’s possible that the Angels could clear him to rejoin the team’s starting rotation, though they may want him to make one additional rehab start against higher level competition first.

MIA Right Fielder #17
Owen Caissie was scratched from the Marlins’ starting lineup on Sunday due to left triceps discomfort.

The injury is not believed to be serious, and the 23-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Heriberto Hernandez will start in his place in left field and will bat seventh against Cade Cavalli and the Nationals.

Addison Barger

Addison Barger was scratched from the Blue Jays’ starting lineup on Sunday due to elbow soreness.

No word yet on the severity of the injury or how long he may be shelved for. Barger just returned from the injured list on Saturday after missing more than a month’s worth of action due to an ankle sprain. Myles Straw will take his place in the Jays’ lineup and will bat eighth against Angels’ right-hander Jose Soriano.

Jake Burger was held out of the Rangers’ starting lineup once again on Sunday to work on his swing.

The 30-year-old slugger is slashing a ghastly .208/.242/.362 on the season, so taking a couple of days off to retool his swing isn’t the worst idea in the world. Justin Foscue will start in his place at first base and will bat ninth for the Rangers against Jameson Taillon and the Cubs.

Andrew Benintendi

CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi (neck) was held out of the White Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Mariners.

Benintendi was scratched from Saturday’s lineup due to stiffness in his neck. The 31-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Once again, Randal Grichuk will start in his place as the White Sox’ designated hitter and will bat eighth against Mariners’ right-hander Logan Gilbert.

Jonathan Aranda is not in the Rays’ lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Red Sox.

Aranda started against each of the other four southpaws that the Rays faced this week, but he’ll grab a seat on the bench for Sunday’s series finale against Payton Tolle. Ryan Vilade will start in his place at first base and will bat fifth for the Rays on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Twins optioned LHP Kody Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul.

Funderburk has done a decent job through his first 19 appearances with the Twins this season, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 10/13 K/BB ratio over 16 innings of work. The walks are becoming a real problem though, which may be what the Twins want him to work on at the Triple-A level. Kendry Rojas was recalled in a corresponding move to take his place in the team’s bullpen.

Once again Rojas will get an opportunity to add a fresh arm to the Twins’ bullpen. The 23-year-old southpaw has made just one appearance at the big league level this season, working a pair of scoreless innings. Kody Funderburk was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move on Sunday.
