ESPN’s Jeff Passan expects Kyle Schwarber to command at least $30 million a year in a free agent contract this offseason.
As Passan notes, it’s incredibly rare for a 33-year-old player who is a DH-only to get so much money. Especially one with a career track record of high strikeout totals and poor batting average; however, he plays every day and leads the National League in home runs and RBI. While a return to Philadelphia feels likely, Passan believes that plenty of teams - Like Texas, San Diego, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, and Cincinnati - might be willing to pay top dollar for Schwarber.

Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Eric Lauer will be used as a starter.
Lauer will slot into the Dodgers’ six-man rotation after being acquired from the Blue Jays in a trade over the weekend. The 30-year-old lefty struggled to a bloated 6.69 ERA across 36 1/3 innings for Toronto earlier this season. He’s unlikely to carry any semblance of fantasy value unless Los Angeles’ pitching apparatus is able to unlock something to get him back on track. It’s a noteworthy development since he’ll take over Blake Snell’s rotation spot with prospect River Ryan likely staying in the minors.
Temper power expectations for Guerrero Jr.
After finally hitting his first home run of May, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s power outage to start the season could actually be a sign of things to come for the remainder of year, where he could finish with 20-25 home runs.

Dodges general manager Brandon Gomes told reporters Blake Snell (elbow) will undergo Nanoscope surgery this week.
Snell will have the same innovative procedure, which is less invasive and uses a smaller incision than a typical arthroscopic surgery, that Tigers ace Tarik Skubal underwent earlier this month. The hope that he’ll be able to return within roughly 4-6 weeks after the procedure. There should be a definitive timetable once he starts ramping up his throwing program in a couple weeks.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tyler Glasnow has been shut down after hit back “flared up” on him again.
Roberts didn’t specify how long Glasnow will be shut down, but it sounds like he’ll get a couple days off to let the issue subside. The 32-year-old hit the shelf with back spasms last week and has yet to progress to throwing off a bullpen mound. Back issues can be tricky matters which makes it challenging to predict when Glasnow will be ready to return.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #72
Dodgers signed RHP Jonathan Hernández to a one-year contract.
Hernández represents a zero-risk lottery ticket for the Dodgers after posting a 22/5 K/BB ratio across 15 innings at the Triple-A level this season. The 29-year-old heads to Los Angeles after opting out of his minor league contract with the Phillies earlier this week. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2024, but has posted a serviceable 4.29 ERA across 153 innings dating back to 2019.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #62
Dodgers optioned RHP Chayce McDermott to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
McDermott worked a scoreless inning against the Angels during Sunday’s blowout victory in his Dodgers debut. The 27-year-old former Orioles pitching prospect was traded to Los Angeles last month after being designated for assignment.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #78
Dodgers transferred RHP Ben Casparius to the 60-day injured list.
Casparius is facing a lengthy recovery process after hitting the injured list with shoulder inflammation back in mid-April. There is no timetable for his return yet.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #48
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) will be shut down for a while due to a back issue.
Graterol was pulled off a rehab assignment over the weekend to undergo further evaluation and imaging after his velocity was down significant in his latest outing. The 27-year-old flamethrower hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2024 and it’s looking highly unlikely he’ll make it back this season. He’s been working his way back from shoulder issues before this most recent back issue flared up. Not good.
  • CLE 1st Baseman #81
Guardians promoted 1B prospect Ralphy Velazquez to Triple-A Columbus.
Velazquez is an extremely interesting bat-first prospect that figures to hit for enough power to be an impactful fantasy contributor once he reaches the majors. The 20-year-old first base prospect smashed 22 home runs in 122 games across two levels in Cleveland’s system last year before hitting .317/.414/.566 with seven homers in 169 plate appearances over 36 games this season at Double-A Akron. He’s a borderline top-25 range prospect in dynasty leagues at this stage of his development.
  • BOS Left Fielder #19
Roman Anthony (wrist) experienced soreness while attempting to swing a bat on Monday.
The Red Sox aren’t going to take any chances with the long-term health of their potential franchise cornerstone, which is why Anthony will be shut down for a couple days before he picks up a bat again. The 22-year-old prodigy has been on the shelf recovering from a right wrist sprain since early May. It’s not uncommon for a hitter to experience soreness and discomfort when they resume swinging a bat, so there’s no reason to panic just yet. However, it’s a situation fantasy managers should closely monitor.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Monday.
It almost defies logic that Skubal is back throwing again less than two weeks after undergoing an innovative Nanoscope procedure to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow. The 29-year-old southpaw will need a couple weeks to ramp up his throwing program again, but it doesn’t seem unrealistic that he could make it back to Detroit’s rotation at some point in June. Unreal.
