Mets activated LHP Sean Manaea from the paternity list.
Manaea draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals with Clay Holmes to follow in a piggyback role. The limited workload eliminates his fantasy appeal outside of deeper mixed leagues. The 33-year-old southpaw has pitched well earlier this week in a five-inning relief outing against the Padres, which is a good sign for the Mets heading towards the postseason.

Wyatt Langford (forearm) took on-field batting practice on Wednesday at Globe Life Field.
It was Langford’s first time taking on-field batting practice since hitting the injured list with a right forearm strain back in late April. There’s optimism he’ll progresses to facing live pitching on Friday before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. There’s a chance he’s ready to return at some point in early June.
    Sabathia digs into baseball superstitions
CC Sabathia and Ahmed Fareed weigh in on baseball superstitions, including ones from CC's playing days and a quirky routine he never forgot about one of his former teammates in New York.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #36
Logan Gilbert blanked the A’s for six innings in Mariners’ 9-1 victory on Wednesday.
Gilbert joined Nathan Eovaldi and teammate Emerson Hancock as the only pitchers so far this season to pitch at least six scoreless innings in a start at Sutter Health Park. No A’s pitcher has done it. Gilbert has pitched scoreless ball in three of his last four starts, though he unfortunately gave up seven runs in his other start during the stretch. He’s 3-4 with a 3.69 ERA and a 69/16 K/BB in 68 1/3 innings, and he’s due to pitch at home against the Mets next time out.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #59
Jeffrey Springs yielded five runs — two earned — in five innings Wednesday in a loss to the Mariners.
The unearned runs came in the first after Jeff McNeil’s error with two outs extended the inning for Rob Refsnyder to hit a three-run homer. However, things never would have gotten started in the first place if Springs hadn’t been slow to cover first base on J.P. Crawford’s infield single to begin the inning. Springs struck out seven on the day. His ERA dropped ever so slightly to 4.07, but he’s now 3-6 this season. He’ll face the Cubs at Wrigley next week.
  • SEA Designated Hitter #30
Rob Refsnyder hit a three-run homer to start the scoring for the Mariners in their 9-1 win over the A’s on Wednesday.
Refsnyder’s third homer was a 368-footer that would have stayed in play in 15 of the 30 parks. Mariners manager Dan Wilson has been getting criticism for sticking with Refsnyder against lefties amid a horrible start to his season. Even after today, the 35-year-old Refsnyder is hitting just .122/.200/.243 in 85 plate appearances.
  • SEA Shortstop #85
Colt Emerson went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple against the A’s on Wednesday.
Emerson’s triple was a 78-mph liner over the first baseman’s head and down into the corner in right. He’s 8-for-31 with one homer and six RBI through 10 big-league games.
  • ATH 2nd Baseman #22
Jeff McNeil finished 0-for-4 and committed an error at second base Wednesday against the Mariners.
Rob Refnsyder hit a three-run homer immediately after McNeil’s error with two outs in the first. McNeil is in a 10-for-61 slump that has dropped his average from .309 to .257 and his OPS from .780 to .673. If he can’t do any better than this, there’s the chance he could lose some playing time after Max Muncy and Jacob Wilson return.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Rangers.
Paredes takes a seat amidst an extended offensive slide where he’s hitting .207 (12-for-58) with two homers and four RBI over his last 15 games. The 27-year-old’s pull-heavy approach hasn’t translated into big-time power numbers in Houston, but he’ll have plenty of opportunities to make noise the rest of the way with Carlos Correa done for the season after undergoing ankle surgery. It’ll be Braden Shewmake getting a look at the hot corner on Wednesday night at Globe Life Field.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez (hamstring) will undergo imaging after being removed from Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays.
Pérez will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of a hamstring spasm that led to his removal from Wednesday’s start against Toronto after four shutout innings where he struck out nine and allowed just three baserunners. There should be an update on the electrifying 23-year-old’s status at some point later this week. He’s tentatively scheduled to face the Nationals in a road tilt on Tuesday.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #26
Taj Bradley will have his next start pushed back to Friday’s series opener against the Pirates.
Bradley was originally slated the take the ball for Thursday’s series finale against the White Sox. It’ll likely be a bullpen game instead. The positive news is that he’s healthy and there don’t appear to be any injury concerns here. He’ll get some extra rest before toeing the rubber at PNC Park later this week. The 25-year-old emerging fantasy stalwart struck out seven and allowed one run over five inning against the Red Sox in his return from the injured list last Saturday.
  • NYY 2nd Baseman #13
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Royals.
The Yankees are going to roll with a righty-heavy lineup against Royals soft-tossing lefty Noah Cameron that includes Amed Rosario at second base over Chisholm, who went 2-for-6 with a solo homer during Tuesday’s lopsided win. Trent Grisham is also on the bench in this one.
