Sammon makes it clear that the Mets aren’t actively shopping Peterson, but they would move the 2025 All-Star if it helps them fill needs elsewhere, likely to acquire an outfielder to replace Brandon Nimmo. Since coming back from hip surgery after the 2023 season, Peterson has a 3.67 ERA in just under 300 innings and is likely to earn $7.6 million in arbitration in 2026, so he would be extremely affordable for whatever team wanted to acquire him. That also means the Mets would “hold a high asking price” in any deal.

Roa was designated for assignment on Wednesday. The 27-year-old hurler made seven appearances at the big league level for the Astros this season, registering a 5.19 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and a 6/7 K/BB ratio. He’ll add extra bullpen depth at the Triple-A level for the O’s.

Contreras was drilled in the hand by a 94 mph sinker from Drew Rasmussen. He stayed in the game to run the bases for himself but was lifted when the Red Sox took the field defensively in the second. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to see if there’s any structural damage. Expect the Red Sox to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.

Imai has continued to struggle with his command during his minor league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers are going to want to take a wait-and-see approach here before considering deploying the 28-year-old right-hander in lineups. Imai registered a troublesome 7.27 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and a 13/11 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings in his first three starts for the Astros before landing on the injured list.

Smith, 25, will get his first chance for the Giants after registering a 2.13 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 15/8 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings in his first nine appearances at Triple-A Sacramento. Given the current state of the Giants’ bullpen, Smith could work his way into high-leverage opportunities if he continues to pitch like he did at Triple-A.

Hentges has finally worked his way back from right knee and left shoulder surgeries that cost him the entire 2025 campaign. The Giants are hopeful that he can provide a major boost to a bullpen that has been a complete disaster this season.

Santos made just three appearances during his time with the Giants, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 1/3 K/BB ratio over five innings. He’ll continue to refine his craft at the Triple-A level until another opportunity arises.

How the mighty have fallen. The 30-year-old right-hander opened the season as the Giants’ closer, but he has registered a miserable 6.46 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and a 14/10 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings in his first 16 appearances. He’ll try to work through his issues at the Triple-A level for the time being. Even in the deepest of leagues, it’s safe for fantasy managers to cut bait here.

Mayo has had an extended runway to show what he can do with both Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg shelved, but he has flailed his way to a brutal .158/.218/.277 slash line with just three homers and 12 RBI through his first 110 plate appearances. Weston Wilson will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat eighth for the O’s against Luis Severino and the Athletics on Sunday.

Francona didn’t discuss the results of the right-hander’s MRI results though he did note that Lowder will continue to throw, just “not quite off the mound yet”. Based on that, you’d assume that the results were encouraging and didn’t show any structural damage. Either way he’ll miss at least a couple of weeks though.

The Orioles don’t believe that Rogers will require a minor league rehab start before rejoining the rotation and there’s growing expectation that he’ll take the ball at some point during their upcoming series against the Yankees. While it’s encouraging for fantasy managers to get the 28-year-old southpaw back, a single-start week against the Yankees is far from an ideal situation. It may be best to give him a week to round back into form before throwing him back into lineups.
