The Angels are signing Kirby Yates to a one-year deal, a source told 7News’s Ari Alexander.
There’s a new favorite to close for the Angels, who lost out on a bid to re-sign Kenley Jansen. It’ll be Yates’ second stint with the team, though you could have blinked and missed the first; he made one appearance and gave up two runs for the Halos in 2017. Yates struggled to a 5.23 ERA while dealing with injuries with the Dodgers last season, but he still struck out 52 in 41 1/3 innings. He had a 1.17 ERA and 33 saves for the Rangers in 2024. The deal is worth $5 million, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

Jake Bauers went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Brewers to a 9-7 win over the Rockies on Friday.
Bauers doubled to lead off the second inning and scored on a groundout. He later came up big in the late innings, knocking a base hit to drive in a run in the ninth before giving the team the lead with a two-run double in the tenth. The 30-year-old slugger is enjoying an excellent season with the Brewers, hitting .277/.361/.497 with 10 homers, 35 runs scored, and 39 RBI across 216 plate appearances.

James Schiano discusses the improvement that Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has made on offense in recent weeks, including the .455 batting average and 1.409 OPS he has posted in his last five games.
  • COL Catcher #15
Hunter Goodman went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base against the Brewers on Friday.
Goodman drew a walk and stole second in the first inning for his fifth steal of the season. He then went yard with a solo homer off Brandon Sproat in the third. Goodman later tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the ninth to bring home a run. The 26-year-old slugger has homered in five of his last nine games. Friday’s blast was his 16th of the season while hitting .245/.316/.514 with 38 runs scored and 29 RBI across 244 plate appearances.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #29
Trevor Megill allowed two runs to blow a save and took the win against the Rockies on Friday.
After the Brewers took a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, Megill was summoned to close things out in the bottom of the frame. He loaded the bases on three hits with one out, then walked in a run before a sacrifice fly tied the game. Megill would get out of the inning to send it to extras, where Milwaukee would win it in the tenth to give Megill the win. The 32-year-old right-hander has been trending up in the Brewers’ bullpen, taking back the primary share of save chances. Despite the blown save on Friday, he likely remains in the driver’s seat for ninth-inning opportunities, for now.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #49
Antonio Senzatela allowed four runs -- three earned -- to blow a save against the Brewers on Friday.
Senzatela, coming off four days’ rest, took the mound in the eighth with a two-run lead. He struck out the side on 15 pitches and returned for the ninth to attempt a two-inning save. Things got away from Senzatela as the Brewers brought four runs home on four hits and an error. He’d leave with two outs in the inning with his second blown save. The 31-year-old right-hander remains the only reliever worth rostering in Colorado, and only in deeper leagues, with a 1.98 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 30/10 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #23
Brandon Sproat allowed three runs with two strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Friday.
The Rockies got to Sproat in the first inning with one run on a double and a groundout. Three more hits in the second brought in a second run. Then Hunter Goodman took him deep for a solo homer in the third. Sproat held on for two more scoreless innings, ending his day after five with two strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander should be avoided for fantasy purposes when he takes a 6.17 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and a 54/29 K/BB ratio across 54 innings into a start against the Athletics at Las Vegas Ballpark on Wednesday.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #18
Ryan Feltner allowed one run while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.
Feltner stranded a runner in the first inning, then gave up a run on a hit, walk, and groundout in the second. He settled in nicely, silencing the Brewers’ bats across four more perfect innings, ending his day after six at 81 pitches with four strikeouts. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.22 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 23/10 K/BB ratio across 32 innings into a start against the Cubs in Colorado next Thursday.
  • MIN Shortstop #22
Brooks Lee went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Twins’ 5-3 win over the Royals on Friday.
Lee brought a run home on a groundout in the third inning, then later started a four-run sixth inning with a solo homer off Michael Wacha. The 25-year-old infielder is having a solid season with the Twins, hitting .247/.300/.420 with nine homers, 27 runs scored, and 37 RBI across 238 plate appearances.
  • KC Right Fielder #14
Jac Caglianone went 2-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, and a walk against the Twins on Friday.
Caglianone had the best day offensively for the Royals, starting with a double to drive in a run in the first inning. After drawing a walk in the fourth, he singled and scored in the ninth. The 23-year-old outfielder is off to a good start in June, with multiple hits in three of his five games. On the season, he’s slashing .251/.327/.405 with six homers, 21 runs scored, and 15 RBI across 217 plate appearances.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #45
Travis Adams allowed one run in the ninth and held on to convert the save against the Royals on Friday.
With most of the back end of the Twins bullpen having pitched in two of the last three games, Adams was summoned in the ninth for the save chance with a three-run lead. He gave up a run on two hits and a groundout before holding on to secure the win and his second save. Despite the save on Friday, the 26-year-old right-hander likely won’t factor into regular ninth-inning opportunities. And it’s a situation that’s been as volatile as any.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #52
Zebby Matthews allowed two runs with two strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Royals on Friday.
Matthews gave up two runs to the Royals in the first inning on a walk and two doubles. He then settled in nicely, going six more scoreless innings. He scattered two more hits and three more walks, striking out two. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 26/8 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings into a start against the Tigers in Detroit on Wednesday.
