MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that Miguel Andujar is drawing “significant interest” on the free agent market.

Andujar had a strong season, split between playing for the Athletics and Reds. He hit .318/.352/.470 with 10 home runs in 94 games due to injury. Now, he was playing in arguably the two most hitter-friendly stadiums in baseball, but he also showed flashes of success in 2024 with Oakland. Heyman has said teams like the Rangers, Padres, Cardinals, and Cubs have expressed interest.

The Blue Jays needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster following the acquisition of Willie MacIver from the Rangers on Friday afternoon and unfortunately for Fitzgerald he drew the short straw. There’s a decent chance that the 28-year-old infielder will pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra infield depth at Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays acquired C Willie MacIver from the Rangers for cash considerations.

The 29-year-old backstop was then optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. He’ll add some much needed catching depth in the organization while Alejandro Kirk is shelved. Tyler Fitzgerald was designated for assignment in a corresponding move to clear a spot on the Jays’ 40-man roster.

Raisel Iglesias

Braves’ manager Walt Weiss told reporters on Friday that they’re hopeful Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) will be able to return from the injured list when first eligible.

The 36-year-old hurler has yet to resume throwing, but the Braves have been encouraged by his progress and don’t believe that he’ll be facing an extended absence. Robert Suarez will continue to hold down the fort in the ninth inning in the meantime.

Andrew Vaughn

MIL 1st Baseman #28

Andrew Vaughn (hand) hit on the field on Friday for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a broken hamate bone.

The 28-year-old slugger has a follow-up appointment scheduled on Tuesday where he’s hopeful to gain clearance to begin a minor league rehab assignment. It sounds like he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery and the Brewers are hopeful that he’ll be able to return in mid-May. He could be worth a stash in any deeper mixed leagues where he may have been dropped.

José Berríos

TOR Starting Pitcher #17

José Berríos (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

If all goes well with that outing, the 31-year-old hurler could be cleared to return to the Blue Jays’ rotation. With Trey Yesavage also nearing a return, the Jays are going to have to make some big decisions soon on the status of their rotation, with Patrick Corbin and Eric Lauer potentially winding up on the outside looking in.

Kyle Freeland

COL Starting Pitcher #21

Kyle Freeland (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

If the Rockies like what they see during that session, it sounds like Freeland will bypass a minor league rehab start entirely and could rejoin the Rockies’ rotation next week against the Reds. Given the injury to Ryan Feltner (elbow), they could certainly use the reinforcements.

HOU Starting Pitcher #45

Tatsuya Imai (arm) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday.

Astros’ manager Joe Espada noted that Imai “looked good” during the session and that the next step for him will be to head out on a minor league rehab assignment. Given the current state of the Astros’ injury-ravaged rotation, Imai will assuredly have a spot waiting for him once he is healthy enough to contribute. If he has been dropped in any deeper mixed leagues, now wouldn’t be a bad time to stash him, as his upside is probably unmatched on the waiver wire currently.

Gary Sánchez

Gary Sánchez is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Friday’s ballgame against the Pirates.

If you’re going to have to get a day off, doing so against Pirates’ ace Paul Skenes isn’t the worst thing that could happen to you. Tyler Black will start in his place as the Brewers designated hitter on Friday evening and will bat cleanup.

Orioles’ president of baseball operations Mike Elias told reporters on Friday that Dean Kremer is expected to be shelved for several weeks due to his right quad strain.

Kremer suffered the injury doing his regular work in-between starts and not during Saturday’s loss to the Guardians. It’s unfortunate for the O’s and for fantasy managers, as the 30-year-old hurler had been pitching well since joining the club’s rotation following the injury to Zach Eflin. Brandon Young will start in his place on Friday against the Red Sox and could have a shot at holding down that spot for at least a few weeks now.

Michael Harris II

ATL Center Fielder #23

Michael Harris II (quad) was scratched from the Braves’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Phillies.

The Braves had been hopeful that Harris could return on Friday after making an early exit on Thursday due to tightness in his left quad, but after testing it out pregame they opted to err on the side of caution. Braves’ manager Walt Weiss told reporters that it’s a day-to-day type of situation and they don’t anticipate the 25-year-old outfielder to require a stint on the injured list.
