Diamondbacks selected the contracts of RHP Jonathan Loáisiga, RHP Joe Ross and INF Ildemaro Vargas.
Loáisiga looked like one of Arizona’s best relievers this spring, and he should be a part of the eighth- or ninth-inning mix right away. If he can just stay healthy, he might wind up leading the team in saves. Still, we’re talking about a 31-year-old who has only once topped 50 innings in the majors. He hasn’t made more than 30 appearances since 2022.

Twins’ skipper Derek Shelton announced after Friday’s game that Cody Laweryrson will be placed on the injured list on Saturday with a right forearm strain.
The 27-year-old hurler had done a nice job in his first five appearances out of the Twins’ bullpen, posting a 4.26 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and an 8/2 K/BB ratio over 6 1/3 innings. The severity of the strain and how long Laweryson will be sidelined for are not yet known.

Twins’ manager Derek Shelton told reporters after Friday’s game that Royce Lewis will be placed on the injured list on Saturday with a right knee sprain.
Lewis suffered the injury during his final at-bat against the Tigers on Thursday. No word yet on how long the oft-injured slugger will be shelved for this time around. The Twins will need to make a bevy of roster moves prior to Saturday’s game with Cody Laweryson (forearm) also heading to the injured list.

Ramón Urías went 1-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored as the Cardinals dispatched of the Red Sox 3-2 on Friday night.
Urías led off the second inning with a double off of Connelly Early and scored the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Victor Scott II. He then drew a walk in the fifth inning and scored the go-ahead run on Jose Fermin’s sacrifice fly. The 31-year-old infielder has done a nice job in his limited action with the Cardinals this season, slashing .261/.346/.652 with a pair of homers and four RBI in 26 plate appearances.
  • STL Right Fielder #18
Jordan Walker went 2-for-4 and scored a run as the Cardinals eked out a one-run victory over the Red Sox.
Walker smacked a one-out single off of Connelly Early in the third inning but wound up stranded on second base. He then started the go-ahead rally with a one-out single off of Zack Kelly in the fifth and raced around to score on an RBI single by Thomas Saggese. With his two-hit attack, the 23-year-old former top prospect is now slashing a healthy .313/.377/.667 with five homers, 12 RBI and a stolen base in 53 plate appearances to start the 2026 season.

Riley O’Brien slammed the door on the Red Sox in the ninth inning on Friday night, working a scoreless frame to preserve a one-run advantage.
O’Brien earned his fourth save of the season for his efforts. The 31-year-old stopper made it look easy in this one, getting Wilyer Abreu on a ground ball to second, Trevor Story on a bouncer to short and Marcelo Mayer on strikes to end it. He has done a terrific job in the ninth inning for the Cardinals so far, firing 8 1/3 scoreless innings with a 0.48 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio while converting each of his first four save chances. Fantasy managers who gambled on him on draft day have to be thrilled with the early returns.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #3
Dustin May picked up his first victory as a member of the Cardinals on Friday night, limiting the Red Sox to two runs (one earned) on four hits over six strong innings.
The 28-year-old right-hander struck out four batters on the night and did not allow a base on balls. The Red Sox scratched out a pair of runs against him in the second inning on a fielder’s choice, an error and Trevor Story stealing home on a double steal. That was the extent of the damage though as May turned in his best start of the season against his former club. He got seven whiffs on 75 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll try to further improve upon his cringe-inducing 9.45 ERA and 1.80 WHIP when he takes on the Guardians at home on Wednesday.
  • BOS Shortstop #10
Trevor Story went 0-for-4 with an RBI and stole home as the Red Sox fell to the Cardinals on Friday evening in St. Louis.
Story drove in a run with a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning, tying the score at 1-1. He then advanced to third on a single by Marcelo Mayer and swiped home as part of a double steal to give the Red Sox the lead. That would be the extent of their offense though. Story is off to a miserable start at the plate this season, hitting .140/.136/.228 with one homer, nine RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base.

Connelly Early did a decent job in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Friday night, allowing just one run on five hits over 4 1/3 innings of work.
The 24-year-old left-hander struck out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The Cardinals pushed a run across against him in the second inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Victor Scott II. Early was lifted after getting the first out in the fifth inning though despite being at just 86 pitches, then Zack Kelly came on and immediately gave up the Red Sox’ lead. Early generated nine whiffs on the day, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He now sports a 2.63 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and a 15/8 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings through his first three starts on the season. He’ll try once again to get in the win column when he battles the Twins in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
  • ATL 1st Baseman #28
Matt Olson went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Friday’s win over the Guardians.
Olson has now homered in back-to-back games while hitting safely in his last four. The hard-hitting first baseman was one of three Braves hitters to homer in the sixth inning of what ended up being a six-run outburst for the Braves on the way to a blowout win. Olson continues to be one of the more reliable first basemen in the game for both the Braves and his fantasy managers.
  • CLE 1st Baseman #9
Kyle Manzardo went 1-for-4 with a home run in Friday’s loss to the Braves.
Manzardo got the best of Braves starter Bryce Elder in the fourth inning, taking the first pitch he saw 468 feet to right field for his first homer of the season to tie the game at 1-1. It would be the only hit of the night for Manzardo, who entered the day hitting .086 and is still hoping to tap back into the form he saw last season when he hit 27 homers and drove in 70 runs. Manzardo’s struggles date back to spring training when he slashed .182/.237/.345 in 59 plate appearances, making him hard to trust until things begin to turn around.
