Marlins prospect RHP Noble Meyer (undisclosed) will be out for an “estimated” eight weeks.
Meyer, the No. 10 overall pick in 2023’s MLB Draft, has had a rough few years since we’ve last blurbed him. He carried a 5.18 ERA in 40 innings for High-A Beloit in 2024, and in a repeat assignment there in 2025, managed a 4.41 ERA in 65 1/3rd innings pitched. Control has been a problem, with 100 walks allowed in 150 1/3rd professional innings. Meyer will look to get things on track when healthy this season. He’s still only 21 years old.

The Diamondbacks announced that Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game due to tightness in his left lower back.
Moreno appeared to tweak something while throwing to second base during the second inning. The severity of the issue remains unclear — as does the amount of time (if any) that he’ll stand to miss. The Diamondbacks should have a clearer picture on his status after seeing how he feels on Saturday.
'No one can touch' Miller right now
James Schiano outlines just how impressive Mason Miller has been for the Padres.

Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday night’s ballgame against the Phillies in the third inning due to an apparent injury.
Moreno appeared to show discomfort after throwing down to second base during the second inning on a stolen base attempt by Justin Crawford. He finished the inning but then didn’t return for the third. Look for the Diamondbacks to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #36
Clarke Schmidt (elbow) threw off a mound on Friday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
Schmidt threw 10 pitches off the mound during the session. He’s still in the initial stages of his throwing progression and is expected to progress to facing live hitters at some point in June. Barring any setbacks along his recovery journey, he should be ready to return to the Yankees in August.
  • TEX Designated Hitter #3
Joc Pederson is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Dodgers.
While Pederson starts against most right-handers, he’ll get a breather in this one against his former squad while Andrew McCutchen starts in his place as the designated hitter and will bat fifth against Tyler Glasnow. Look for Pederson to return to action at some point over the weekend.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Blake Snell (shoulder) will face live hitters for the first time in a live batting practice session on Saturday.
The 33-year-old southpaw has been slowly and methodically working his way back from left shoulder fatigue. The Dodgers aren’t counting on having Snell back in their rotation until the end of May, so they’ll continue to bring him along cautiously.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto (foot) returned to the Phillies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Diamondbacks.
Realmuto missed Wednesday’s game after fouling a ball off of his right foot during Tuesday’s contest against the Giants. The 35-year-old backstop initially thought that he had broken his foot, so it’s pretty remarkable that he’s able to return to action after only a couple of days off. He’ll bat eighth against Diamondbacks’ right-hander Michael Soroka.
  • BAL Right Fielder #9
Tyler O’Neill was scratched from the Orioles’ starting lineup on Friday due to illness.
O’Neill has caught whatever has been going around the Orioles’ clubhouse and will be held out of action on Friday night as a result. Leody Taveras will take his place in the Orioles’ lineup and will bat seventh against Giants’ right-hander Landen Roupp.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #33
Brendan Donovan was held out of the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Astros due to illness.
Donovan had been feeling a bit under the weather so the Mariners thought it wise to give him the night off. Leo Rivas will start in his place at third base and bat ninth while J.P. Crawford serves as the M’s leadoff hitter against Tatsuya Imai and the Astros on Friday evening in Seattle.
  • NYY Shortstop #11
Anthony Volpe (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.
Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman told reporters on Friday that the plan is for Volpe to serve as the team’s starting shortstop upon his return. He missed the entirety of spring training, so he’s going to need at least a few weeks’ worth of at-bats in the minor leagues before he’s an option to help out at the Major League level. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready at some point in early May.
  • COL Left Fielder #27
Jordan Beck is once again absent from the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Padres in San Diego.
We aren’t quite sure what Beck did to Rockies’ new skipper Warren Schaefer, but he has found himself in the starting lineup in just seven of the team’s first 14 ballgames now. The fact that he’s hitting .080 (2-for-25) obviously doesn’t help, but it’s hard to get into a rhythm at the plate when you’re seeing sporadic at-bats. Tyler Freeman will start in right field and bat second for the Rockies against Padres’ right-hander Walker Buehler on Friday evening.
