Wyatt Langford told reporters that he’s dealing with a “small strain” in his right quad.
Langford left Friday’s bout against the Dodgers with tightness in his quad, and imaging revealed the strain. The 24-year-old will be out of the lineup for the next couple of days — per Langford himself — but he doesn’t believe that he’ll need a trip to the injured list. It’s disappointing for the short-term, but for now, it’s positive news that he’s avoided a significant injury.

An MRI revealed no structural damage on Adley Rutschman’s left ankle.
Rutschman was placed on the 10-day injured list before Saturday’s game against the Giants, and it looks like this was just a precautionary measure for the backstop. It may not be an exact 10-day stint, but assuming no setbacks, there’s a great chance Rutschman is back behind the plate before the end of April.
Zac Brown Band rocks Sunday Night Baseball
Zac Brown Band debuts the Sunday Night Baseball intro as the Atlanta Braves welcome the Cleveland Guardians to Truist Park for a primetime clash on NBC and Peacock.
  • BAL 1st Baseman #6
An MRI revealed that Ryan Mountcastle has a broken fourth metacarpal on his left foot.
Mountcastle suffered the injury Saturday while picking up the double. The 29-year-old will be placed on the injured list before Baltimore’s next game, and there’s a good chance he’ll need to miss significantly more than the minimum 10-day stint.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #46
Braves recalled LHP Dylan Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dodd will provide some multi-inning help for the Atlanta bullpen while he’s here. The team will need to make a change to the rotation as Martin Pérez was designated for assignment as the corresponding move, but this could be a short stint for Dodd on the roster.
  • DET Shortstop #7
Kevin McGonigle went 3-for-4 and hit his first major league homer Sunday as the Tigers topped the Marlins 8-2.
He also walked. McGonigle’s homer was a solo shot off Sandy Alcantara in the fifth. It left his bat at 108.8 mph, making it his second hardest-hit ball to date (he had a 109.5-mph single off Chris Paddack on Friday). He’s batting .322/.412/.508 through 68 plate appearances, and as the Tigers’ everyday leadoff man, he could maintain a fair amount of fantasy value even if he’s not a big source of homers or stolen bases as a rookie.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal limited the Marlins to one run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings in a win Sunday.
Skubal struck out seven, finishing with 11 whiffs on 44 swings and a 30-percent CSW. With his velocity and strikeout rate down a tad, he still hasn’t had a vintage Skubal outing just yet, even if he has allowed one run or fewer in three of his four outings. Maybe it’ll happen against the Red Sox next weekend.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #22
Sandy Alcantara was tagged for seven runs and three homers in six innings by the Tigers in a loss Sunday.
It was a little too early to start engraving the Cy Young Award. Still, it’s impressive that Alcantara can give up seven runs on Apr. 12 and sport a 2.67 ERA. Alcantara surrendered 12 of the game’s 13 hardest-hit balls, with only Otto Lopez’s 107-mph groundout against Tarik Skubal breaking up the list. He’ll bounce back from this, but it does need to be remembered that his brilliant beginning to the season was fueled by starts against the Rockies and White Sox. He’ll face the Brewers next weekend.
  • DET Catcher #13
Dillon Dingler hit a three-run homer off Sandy Alcantara in the win over the Marlins on Sunday.
Dingler opened the season batting seventh for the Tigers, but he’s been placed fifth, fourth and fifth the last three days and deservedly so; Statcast thinks he’s actually been unlucky in hitting .250/.353/.477 so far. He’s a worthy starter in one-catcher leagues while he continues to bat in the middle of the order.
  • MIA Catcher #50
Agustín Ramírez went 0-for-4 with a GIDP against the Tigers on Sunday to end a three-game series 1-for-12.
Ramírez hasn’t looked all that bad at the plate, but with no homers and one steal through 15 games, he’s an early fantasy disappointment. Last year, he had 21 homers and 16 steals in 136 games. At least his improved defense will help him stay in the lineup while he slumps. He should still be viewed as a top-10 fantasy catcher.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #33
Braves designated LHP Martín Pérez for assignment.
It comes after Pérez pitched five innings of one-run baseball against to the Guardians, but it took a good amount of luck for those results to take place. Atlanta manager Walt Weiss told reporters he’s not sure who will take Pérez’s spot in the rotation, but there are two intriguing prospects in JR Ritchie and Didier Fuentes who could get the nod. Either would be worthy of fantasy consideration.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #52
Ken Waldichuk exited Sunday’s game against the Brewers with an apparent injury.
Waldichuk looked to be in significant pain before leaving. The 28-year-old has seen his career decimated by injuries, and unfortunately, it appears he’s picked up another one. His status for the upcoming contests should be updated shortly.
