Griffin gave up plenty of hard contact in this one, and perhaps most disappointingly, gave up a 4-0 lead immediately by allowing an Oneil Cruz RBI double and a three-run blast to Marcell Ozuna that hit off the facade in left field. Griffin did still manage to leave the game with a one-run lead, but Washington’s bullpen immediately squandered it. Nothing about Griffin’s 3.05 ERA has felt sustainable so far and we wouldn’t be excited about streaming him against the Braves next week.

Waldrep continues working his way back from surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow back in February. The 24-year-old former top prospect will progress to facing hitters in live batting practice before he’s cleared to head out on a minor league rehab assignment. It seems likely he’ll be on the shelf until around midseason before he’s ready to rejoin Atlanta’s rotation.

Horwitz has been tearing the cover off the ball recently, hitting .364 (8-for-22) with six RBI and more walks (five) than strikeouts (three) over his last seven games. The 28-year-old lacks the requisite power production to be a viable mixed-league fantasy starter, but he’s doing enough from a batting average standpoint to be a corner infield option in deeper leagues. It’ll be Jared Triolo at the cold corner on Wednesday night in his place.

Miles figures to draw the starting assignment to kick off a bullpen game after the Blue Jays decided to move on from veteran lefty Eric Lauer earlier this week. The 25-year-old rookie has compiled a respectable 3.00 ERA and 18/5 K/BB ratio across 21 innings over 12 appearances for Toronto this season. There’s some marginal streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in extremely deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats, but Miles won’t provide enough volume to be impactful in shallow leagues in the near term.

Keegan Akin, Dietrich Enns and Yennier Cano finished up. The Yankees’ only hit of the day was a double from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth. Bradish struck out seven and walked three while winning for the first time in five weeks and moving to 2-5 with a 4.21 ERA. The Orioles entered the day as the only team without a shutout this season. Bradish is due to make his next start Tuesday in St. Pete against the Rays.

He also had a sac fly. Rutschman didn’t get all of the home run ball — he actually put his head down after the swing, thinking it was just a flyout — but the wind pushed it and 6-for-7 Spencer Jones had it tick off his glove just over the wall in right field. Rutschman, who missed time with an ankle injury last month, is hitting .291/.339/.553 with 24 RBI in 28 games this season.

Alexander came into the day at .221/.280//267 in 96 plate appearances, so he’s been losing playing time. This rates as his best game as an Oriole, but it wasn’t particularly encouraging; his three hits were all soft singles and one was a bunt. Last year, he had seven homers and 20 extra-base hits in 266 plate appearances for Arizona. Right now, he’s at zero and three for the Orioles.

The Yankees had just one hit today, so Volpe’s 0-for-3 doesn’t stand out. However, if he hopes to stick around once José Caballero returns, he certainly can’t afford to play sloppy defense. His error today on a grounder in the eighth wasn’t a particularly bad one, but it was a poor 2026 first impression on the whole.

Nimmo’s toughness certainly can’t be questioned since he’s back in the lineup less than 24 hours after suffering a left ankle sprain during Tuesday’s contest against Arizona. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder certainly won’t be at full strength, but he’s going to try to play through the injury after initial X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures. He’ll have some extra time off to rest during Thursday’s off-day before Texas kicks off a three-game series against the division-rival Astros.

It’s a significant loss for the injury-plagued Mets, who will be without their starting catcher until at least late June, in a best-case scenario. It’s possible he’s on the shelf until after the All-Star break in mid-July. The 24-year-old backstop suffered the injury during Tuesday’s contest against the Tigers. It’ll be defensive specialist Luis Torrens taking over the catching duties in his absence.

It’s an extremely rare break for Turner, who has started 10 consecutive games since May 2. The 32-year-old power/speed combo threat has hit a bit of a rough patch recently, hitting .182 (8-for-44) with 10 strikeouts since the start of May. It’ll be Edmundo Sosa taking over at shortstop and hitting ninth with a sizzling-hot Kyle Schwarber moving up to the leadoff spot to face Red Sox veteran righty Sonny Gray at Fenway Park.
