Muncy doubled in the top of the second inning to drive home Andy Pages and give the Dodgers their first run of the night. On a night where Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-5 at the plate, Muncy’s double was one of the very few bright spots for the Dodgers’ offense on Friday. He has now it safely in seven of his last eight games, and is slashing .353/.441/.745 over his last 15 games with five homers and eight RBI.

Hill’s 417-foot homer to center was his longest batted ball since he hit 432- and 420-foot homers at Coors Field on Aug. 29, 2024. He’s gone 11-for-44 with three homers and four steals while starting strictly against lefties this season. He’s played in 31 games and taken 50 plate appearances.

Fedde left with a 5-2 lead that was blown right away by Tyler Schweitzer and Grant Taylor in the sixth. As a result, Fedde remains 0-4 in spite of a solid 3.66 ERA. He’s still a weak bet for fantasy purposes with his 26 strikeouts and 10 homers allowed in 43 innings. Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez took him deep tonight. He’ll make his next start Sunday against the Cubs.

Domínguez got the decision after Derek Hill homered in the bottom of the inning, and Bryan Hudson closed things out for his second save. Domínguez remains the White Sox’s primary closer with his nine saves in 11 tries this year.

The White Sox decided to use Seranthony Domínguez in the eighth in a tie game tonight. After they took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth, Hudson faced Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez in the ninth and retired them all, but things might have gone somewhat differently if Derek Hill hadn’t made a sliding catch on Witt’s liner to right to start the inning. Hudson, who has pitched in 21 of the White Sox’s 41 games, has a 0.90 ERA and a 22/9 K/BB in 20 innings. It’ll be interesting to see if that workload starts to catch up to him at some point.

All five runs scored in the fifth, when Drew Romo and Chase Meidroth hit 35x-foot homers off him. Romo’s was a homer in 17 ballparks, while Meidroth’s would have left only eight. Kolek departed down by three runs, but the Royals came back to let him off the hook in the sixth before ultimately losing 6-5. This is a definite setback for Kolek’s chances of sticking around over Noah Cameron after Cole Ragans comes off the IL, but he should get one more chance to impress Sunday against the Cardinals.

Derek Hill hit the homer. Strahm has allowed three homers and seven runs in 15 2/3 innings to begin the year. At this point, Daniel Lynch IV probably should be ahead of him in line for saves if something happens to Lucas Erceg.

Perez also caught tonight for the first time since May 1. He’d been limited to DH duties by hip soreness. The homer off Erick Fedde was his first since Apr. 28.

Schumaker added that Nimmo is dealing with a sprained ankle but didn’t suffer any fractures. It sounds like there’s a chance he avoids the injured list, but the Rangers are probably going to give him a couple days off to rest and recover. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder was 3-for-4 with a run scored before spraining his ankle on a close play at first base during the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game against Arizona. There should be an update on his status prior to Wednesday’s showdown.

After facing some adversity for the first time at the big league level, McGonigle has his average back up to .300 and is riding a three-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old shortstop was on base three times and stole his sixth base in Tuesday’s loss to the Mets. He was stranded on the bases all three times as the Tigers managed to record 10 hits but only scored two runs.
