Cole Ragans yielded four runs in 5 1/3 innings Friday in a no-decision against the Mariners.
Ragans fanned eight in the game. He allowed just four hard-hit balls, but three of them turned into homers, including a 359-footer from Randy Arozarena that, according to Statcast, would have stayed in play in 22 of 30 ballparks. With tonight’s barrage, Ragans has given up 10 homers in 32 1/3 innings. In his lone full season as a starter in 2024, he allowed a total of 15 in 186 1/3 innings. He’ll almost surely fare better going forward, but his stock is definitely down a bit from the start of the year. He’ll take a 5.29 ERA into his next start versus the Guardians.

Angels placed C Sebastián Rivero on the 10-day injured list with a left hamate fracture.
Rivero is facing an extended absence after suffering a dreaded hamate fracture on a swing during Tuesday’s contest against the Astros. The 27-year-old backstop had recorded hits in seven consecutive plate appearances prior to the injury. He’s likely to miss at least one or two months.
Inside May's resurgence for Cardinals this season
Eric Samulski dives into Dustin May's turnaround for the St. Louis Cardinals with changes in his pitch mix to make his arsenal more effective and become more valuable in fantasy lineups.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #41
Angels transferred RHP Jack Kochanowicz to the 60-day injured list.
Kochanowicz is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery after hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation last weekend. The 25-year-old is likely to miss a significant portion of next season given the timing of the procedure, which typically carries a 12-18 month recovery timeline.
  • AZ 1st Baseman #6
Ildemaro Vargas (general soreness) is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Marlins.
Vargas returns to Arizona’s lineup for the first time since a massive collision with Dodgers slugger Max Muncy last Thursday. The 34-year-old is back at first base and hitting seventh at loanDepot park in Miami on Wednesday evening.
  • PIT Right Fielder #25
Pirates recalled OF Billy Cook from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Cook returns to the majors with Oneil Cruz hitting the injured list with multiple fractures in his left hand. The 27-year-old has hit .190 (4-for-21) with three stela sin 32 games for the Pirates this season. He’ll operate in a reserve role behind Jake Mangum.
  • PIT Center Fielder #15
Oneil Cruz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 8, with left hand fourth and fifth metacarpal non-displaced fractures.
Cruz is expected to miss at least one month, reports Kevin Gorman of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. It’s a massive loss for the Pirates and fantasy managers, as Cruz was putting together a monster campaign, slashing .264/.350/.472 with 14 homers, 44 RBI and 21 steals in 283 plate appearances over 64 games. He’s still striking out a ton, but has made some serious strides against left-handed pitching, evolving into an upper-echelon fantasy contributor in the process. There isn’t an official timetable from the Pirates, but fantasy managers should anticipate Cruz remaining sidelined until after next month’s All-Star break.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #38
White Sox recalled LHP Chris Murphy from Triple-A Charlotte.
Murphy rejoins Chicago’s relief mix with fellow southpaw Tyler Gilbert heading to the injured list with a shoulder impingement. The 28-year-old has compiled an underwhelming 6.75 ERA across 9 1/3 innings for Chicago this season.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #40
White Sox placed LHP Tyler Gilbert on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder impingement.
Gilbert will miss at least a couple weeks with the shoulder ailment. The 32-year-old lefty has allowed seven runs over 3 2/3 innings across four appearances for the White Sox this season.
  • PHI Center Fielder #23
Johan Rojas will undergo season-ending elbow surgery.
Rojas will undergo an internal brace procedure after suffering a UCL tear. He might’ve had a spot on Philadelphia’s bench once his 80-game PED suspension ended later this month, but he’s officially done for the remainder of the season. He’ll be officially placed on the 60-day injured list once his suspension concludes. His future with the Phillies remains very much up in the air.
  • KC Center Fielder #26
Royals recalled OF Kameron Misner from Triple-A Omaha.
Misner returns to the majors for Wednesday’s showdown against the Rangers with Kyle Isbel hitting the shelf with plantar fasciitis. The 28-year-old will be making his Kansas City debut when he gets into a game after being acquired from the Rays in an offseason trade. He hit .213/.273/.345 with five homers, 22 RBI, and eight steals over 217 plate appearances in 71 games for Tampa Bay last season.
  • KC Center Fielder #28
Royals placed OF Kyle Isbel on the 10-day injured list with left foot plantar fasciitis.
Isbel receives some additional time off following an early exit from Tuesday’s contest against the Rangers. It’s worth noting that plantar fasciitis is a complicated injury that only really improves with rest and maintenance. There’s a chance Isbel is out for a while.
